About the role We are seeking an experienced Foreman - Diesel technician to join our team in Hamilton Central Waikato. This is a full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to lead and manage a team of diesel technicians whilst maintaining your hands-on expertise in the automotive trades, specifically within diesel engine maintenance and repair. As Foreman, you will play a crucial leadership role in ensuring the smooth operation of our workshop, maintaining high standards of workmanship, and driving efficiency across all diesel servicing and repair operations. Key responsibilities Oversee and supervise daily workshop operations, ensuring all diesel service and repair work meets company standards and safety requirements Lead, mentor and develop a team of diesel technicians, providing guidance on technical issues and supporting their professional growth Manage workflow and job scheduling to optimise productivity and ensure timely completion of services and repairs Conduct quality inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer satisfaction Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used and labour hours for all workshop jobs Liaise with customers regarding servicing requirements, repair progress and quotations Monitor and manage workshop inventory, ordering parts and materials as required Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the workshop environment Identify training needs within the team and implement development programmes where necessary What we're looking for Minimum 5+ years' experience as a qualified diesel technician with demonstrated expertise in diesel engine diagnostics and repair Relevant qualifications in automotive diesel mechanics or equivalent recognised certification from an automotive trades body Proven supervisory or team leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a workshop team effectively Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems and emission control technologies Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and workshop management software systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and customers Sound understanding of health and safety regulations and workshop best practices Strong organisational and time management abilities with attention to detail Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure Desirable: Experience in a supervisory capacity within an automotive workshop environment What we offer The company is committed to supporting the career development and wellbeing of their employees. the role offers competitive remuneration commensurate with experience and qualifications.
