About the role We are seeking a skilled GIB Stopper to join the team at Rome Interiors Limited in Queenstown, Otago. This is a full-time position based on-site, offering an excellent opportunity to work on modern and architectural building projects in the Otago region. As a GIB Stopper, you will play a crucial role in the finishing stages of interior construction, ensuring high-quality plastering finishes that meet industry standards and client expectations. Key responsibilities Finishing GIB plasterboard on walls and ceilings to specified standards Applying joint compound, sanding and taping GIB joints to achieve smooth, seamless surfaces Preparing surfaces for painting by stopping, sanding and finishing plasterboard work Operating power tools and hand tools safely and effectively Maintaining work areas in a clean and organised manner Adhering to health and safety regulations on all job sites Working collaboratively with other tradespeople and construction teams Inspecting finished work to ensure quality standards are met Maintaining a high quality and meeting deadlines What we're looking for Proven experience as a GIB Stopper or in similar plasterboard finishing roles within the building trades Sound knowledge of GIB installation, joint taping, mudding and sanding techniques Proficiency with power tools including sanders, taping tools and other plasterboard finishing equipment Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality finishes Current driver's licence and reliable transportation Physical fitness and ability to work at heights where required Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team Flexibility and willingness to adapt to varying project requirements What we offer Rome Interiors Limited offers competitive rates of pay that match experience and qualifications.
