Leading Hand – Fitter/Turner/Machinist Our client is established Tauranga based general engineering business that offers custom fabrication, machining and general engineering services The Role This is a full-time permanent position working Monday to Friday. The work is a mixture of workshop based & site work. This is a key role for fabrication, repair, maintenance, and overhaul of a diverse range of machinery and equipment including marine, energy, forestry, quarry, commercial, industrial equipment and machinery. The role also includes a lot of machining and fabrication skills to manufacture specialised components. Duties include: Machining components and equipment to precise specifications. (Manual Lathes, CNC and milling machines) Carry out mechanical fitting, assembly, maintenance, and repair work Complete basic MIG and MMAW welding when required. Work across a variety of environments, including ports, vessels, quarries, and industrial or commercial sites. Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and requirements. What We’re Looking For Proven experience in precision machining and mechanical fitting for larger parts for various industries/applications for equipment/machinery. Strong understanding of technical drawings and the ability to work independently. CAD experience (Autodesk Inventor or other) for mechanical parts or assemblies. Basic welding skills (MIG and MMAW) preferred Valid Class 1 driver’s license; Forklift certs a plus A strong commitment to health and safety practices Customer interaction solving engineering problems, making to parts to solve a equipment/machine problem. Experience with Siemans or other CNC programming plus What’s on Offer Competitive salary package $40-45/hr. Over time: time & a 1.5 from 40 hrs. Hours 7:30 – 4pm.
