About the role One Stop Mechanical is looking for a qualified Automotive Technician/Mechanic to join our team. We’re after someone who is confident working independently across a wide range of makes and models and can handle the normal day-to-day work that comes through a busy general mechanical workshop. The role will include servicing, general mechanical repairs, WOF inspections, fault finding and diagnostics. You don’t need to be an auto electrician or diagnostic specialist, but you do need to be comfortable using scan tools, reading fault codes and live data, and carrying out basic electrical testing and diagnostics. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can diagnose and repair vehicles properly, communicates well with customers when required, and is comfortable getting on with the job without needing to be constantly supervised. Main duties General vehicle servicing and maintenance Mechanical repairs across a wide range of makes and models WOF inspections Using diagnostic scan tools for fault finding Basic electrical testing and diagnostics Brakes, suspension, steering and general underbody repairs Cooling system and engine-related repairs Identifying faults and recommending required repairs Road testing and checking completed work Liaising with customers and explaining faults or required repairs when needed Maintaining a good standard of workmanship and workshop cleanliness What we're looking for The successful applicant will need: A recognised automotive qualification Current WOF Inspector authority/licence Full NZ driver's licence Good general mechanical knowledge across different makes and models Confidence carrying out servicing and general mechanical repairs Ability to confidently use diagnostic scan tools Ability to carry out basic electrical diagnosis and testing Good fault-finding skills Good English communication skills, both verbal and written Confidence communicating with customers and explaining vehicle faults and required repairs Ability to work independently and as part of a small team Good attention to detail and pride in workmanship Reliable and able to manage jobs efficiently
