Marine Diesel Mechanic

About the role Seapower 2006 Ltd is a well-established marine engineering, service and repair business based at Opua Marina in the beautiful Bay of Islands. We’re looking for an experienced Marine Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, working on boats and engines, and getting stuck into hands-on marine engineering work. You'll be involved in a wide range of marine mechanical work on vessels in the marina, workshop and out on the water. Key responsibilities Servicing and repairs of marine diesel engines Fault finding and diagnostics Engine removal, installation and alignment Cooling, fuel and exhaust systems Turbochargers, aftercoolers and circulation systems Gearboxes, shafts and propeller-related work Generators and auxiliary machinery Preventative maintenance and major repairs Sea trials and testing Skills & Experience Qualified or experienced diesel mechanic Marine diesel experience preferred Strong mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good attention to detail and pride in your workmanship Full, clean driver's license Legally entitled to work in NZ Confident around the water. Ability to swim.
