About the role The Head of Health Technology & Innovation Unit (HTI) is responsible for leading the assessment, adoption and implementation of emerging health technologies and innovative solutions that enhance healthcare delivery, beneficiary outcomes and operational efficiency. The role leads health technology and innovation initiatives from opportunity identification and evaluation through implementation, integration and performance monitoring. The incumbent works closely with Digital Technologies, Operations and other relevant stakeholders, as well as external technology partners, to ensure that proposed solutions are aligned with organisational priorities and can be effectively integrated into existing systems and workflows. As Head of Unit, the incumbent also provides functional leadership and guidance to team members, promotes continuous innovation and supports the organisation in responding to developments in healthcare technology. Key responsibilities Develop and implement health technology and innovation initiatives aligned with organisational priorities and strategic objectives. Identify, research and assess emerging health technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), digital health and other relevant innovations, for potential application within the organisation. Lead the planning, execution and delivery of technology-driven healthcare projects, ensuring agreed scope, timelines, quality requirements and intended outcomes are achieved. Assess technology opportunities and recommend solutions that may improve healthcare delivery, beneficiary outcomes, clinical workflows and operational efficiency. Collaborate with Digital Technologies, Operations and other relevant teams to identify technology needs, assess implementation requirements and facilitate effective solution deployment. Oversee the integration of approved health technologies into existing systems, processes and workflows, working with relevant technical and operational stakeholders to minimise implementation disruption. Engage and collaborate with technology vendors and external partners to evaluate, select and implement appropriate third-party technology solutions in accordance with organisational requirements. Ensure health technology initiatives comply with applicable healthcare, data protection, information security, privacy and organisational governance requirements. Monitor the performance, utilisation and impact of implemented technologies and provide data-driven recommendations for optimisation and continuous improvement. Maintain awareness of developments and trends in health technology and healthcare innovation and identify potential opportunities relevant to the organisation. Provide functional leadership, guidance and mentorship to team members and foster a collaborative, innovative and continuous-improvement culture within the unit. Prepare project updates, analyses, reports, presentations and recommendations for Management and relevant stakeholders. What we're looking for Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Healthcare Management, Computer Science or a related discipline from a recognised institution. A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in health technology, healthcare innovation or a related field, with exposure to technology adoption and implementation. Strong understanding of healthcare systems and relevant health technologies, such as digital health solutions, electronic health records (EHR), artificial intelligence, machine learning and telemedicine. Demonstrated experience in managing technology-related projects within a healthcare environment. Experience working with multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams involving clinical, technical and operational stakeholders. Knowledge of healthcare data, privacy, information security and relevant regulatory requirements. Experience in technology vendor management, solution evaluation and/or technology procurement will be an added advantage.
