Work Location: Segambut, Kuala Lumpur Employment Type: Full-time Reports to: Manager, Digital Transformation Working Hour: 8.30am – 6.00pm We are seeking a curious, growth-oriented Software Engineer who is passionate about building real-world software solutions. This role primarily involves developing applications using Mendix (low-code) and Svelte (modern web framework). Prior experience in these technologies is not mandatory. We value engineers who are eager to learn, adaptable, and motivated to continuously improve their technical and problem-solving abilities. Our engineering environment embraces AI-augmented development. Engineers are encouraged to leverage modern AI tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and learning. However, strong foundational programming knowledge and the ability to reason through problems independently remain essential. You will work on digital solutions for the construction industry, helping transform operational data into practical software systems that deliver business value. Key Responsibilities: Develop, test, and deploy applications using the Mendix and Svelte . Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business users, business analysts, designers, and other developers, to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs. Participate in the entire application lifecycle, from concept and design to implementation and support. Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity, code quality, and learning speed. Understand, review, and validate AI-generated code to ensure correctness, maintainability, and performance. Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues with a structured problem-solving approach. Continuously learn and adopt new tools, frameworks, and development practices. Contribute to improving development workflows, documentation, and system quality. Stay updated with evolving technologies in both low-code and high-code ecosystems. Provide training and support to other team members as needed. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Familiarity with Mendix, Svelte, or modern web development is a plus, but not required. Strong willingness and curiosity to learn new technologies quickly. Solid problem-solving and analytical thinking skills with the ability to break complex problems into structured solutions. Comfortable working in an AI-augmented coding environment while maintaining strong programming fundamentals . Ability to understand and reason about code rather than relying blindly on generated output. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, or Python is a plus. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and practices. Experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and relational databases (e.g., SQL) is an advantage.

Here's how to pick the right one and stand out in your application.

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
