Position: Beef Cattle Farmer Location: Manypeaks, Western Australia About Metcalfe Pastoral: Metcalfe Pastoral is a leading farming operation situated on the stunning south coast of Western Australia. With a commitment to excellence in agriculture, we operate across Green Range, Manypeaks, and Bremer Bay, ensuring the highest standards in farming practices. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Beef Cattle Farmer to join our team and contribute to the smooth running of our operations. About the Role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Beef Cattle Farmer to join our progressive beef cattle operation. The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of part of our cattle enterprise, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, productivity and operational efficiency. This position requires a proactive individual with demonstrated experience in commercial beef production, herd management and livestock husbandry. Key Responsibilities Plan and manage day-to-day operations of the beef cattle enterprise. Develop and implement breeding, joining and herd improvement programs. Monitor livestock health and coordinate animal health treatments in consultation with veterinarians where required. Manage nutrition, supplementary feeding and grazing strategies to optimise livestock performance. Maintain accurate livestock production, breeding and treatment records. Monitor pasture condition and assist with grazing and land management planning. Supervise and coordinate farm employees and contractors engaged in livestock operations. Oversee livestock handling, drafting, pregnancy testing, weaning and marketing activities. Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and animal welfare standards. Coordinate maintenance of livestock infrastructure including fencing, yards, water systems and handling facilities. Assist with budgeting, purchasing livestock inputs and planning seasonal operations. Operate and oversee the safe use of farm machinery and equipment where required. Essential Requirements Demonstrated experience managing a commercial beef cattle enterprise. Strong knowledge of beef cattle breeding, nutrition, pasture management and herd health. Experience supervising staff or coordinating farm operations. Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills. Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions. Current driver's licence. Ability to operate farm machinery and equipment safely. Desirable Agricultural qualification or relevant industry training. Experience with performance recording and herd management software. Artificial insemination or pregnancy testing experience. Experience in seedstock or Angus cattle operations.
