Hong Kong Microelectronics Research and Development Institute (MRDI) is established to seize the huge potential market for third-generation semiconductors and align with the national strategy for technological development. The MRDI is now inviting a proactive, service‑minded, and well‑presented professional to join us as Engineer, Cleanroom Operations. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Establish and maintain cleanroom housekeeping and organisation standards, applying 5S principles, and conduct routine checks to ensure compliance with facility and contamination‑control requirements. Manage cleanroom access arrangements for personnel and materials, maintain accurate entry/exit records, and provide on‑site reminders to ensure proper gowning, movement discipline, and adherence to cleanroom rules. Support continuous improvement initiatives to keep the cleanroom safe, organised, and user‑friendly, proactively identifying areas for enhancement. Monitor usage of cleanroom consumables, maintain stock records, and coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely replenishment. Conduct regular garment quality checks, maintain inventory records, and coordinate with external laundry service providers to ensure adequate supply of cleanroom apparel. Deliver cleanroom induction briefings and basic training for new hires, contractors, and visitors, including simple qualification assessments. Support visitor engagement by coordinating logistics for FAB tours, student visits, external delegations, and regulatory audits, including gowning preparation and friendly, clear briefings. Provide clerical and administrative support for cleanroom operations, documentation, training materials, and event‑related arrangements. Perform ad hoc assignments as instructed. REQUIREMNETS A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Science, or related disciplines (Operations/Quality Management also considered). Candidates without a degree but with strong relevant experience will be considered. Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience, preferably in facility operations, cleanroom management, or highly regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., semiconductor FAB, microelectronics, medical devices). Familiarity with 5S methodology is essential and must be applied in daily work. Highly proactive, detail‑oriented, and strong sense of ownership in safety and compliance. Strong team player with the ability to collaborate with engineers, EHS personnel, and facility teams. High adaptability and discipline; able to work in a regulated environment, wear full cleanroom attire, and strictly follow SOPs. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation, data tracking, and training materials. Presentable, tidy, and professional appearance suitable for hosting tours and representing MRDI. Good interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in written and spoken Cantonese, Putonghua, and English. Additional language abilities (e.g., Japanese, Korean, French, etc.) are an advantage for visitor engagement. WORK LOCATION Microelectronics Centre at Yuen Long InnoPark (Yuen Long Industrial Estate) WORKING HOURS From 08:45 to 17:45 hrs, five-day work week NOTE Less experienced applicant may be considered for a junior position. The appointment level and remuneration package will be aligned with the successful applicant’s work experience, qualifications, and demonstrated potential. The initial employment contract spans 12 / 24 months and can be renewed with a longer tenure upon mutual agreement of the incumbent and MRDI.
