About the role We are looking for a commercially minded and highly capable Management Accountant who wants a clear pathway to CFO and more than a traditional accounting role. This is an opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who wants to take ownership and build the analysis and reporting required to run a high-performing SaaS business, and ultimately grow into the CFO role. The successful candidate will have strong experience in a corporate, manufacturing, technology or SaaS environment and will be comfortable working closely with our Financial Accountant and senior management on revenue, operational efficiency and business planning. This is a hands-on role. You will initially be expected to get into the detail, understand how the business operates, and progressively build a function capable of supporting the organisations rapid growth. We are looking for a self-starter who identifies what needs to be done and takes ownership of delivering it. Key responsibilities Take ownership of understanding and reporting on the company's revenue performance, including revenue analysis and forecasting, revenue performance by product, customer, channel or business unit, pricing and margin analysis, gross margin and contribution analysis, customer and product profitability, revenue trends and growth drivers, and identification of revenue risks and opportunities Report on SaaS metrics such as ARR / MRR, customer retention and churn, average revenue per customer, customer acquisition economics, lifetime value, expansion and contraction revenue, and revenue concentration Develop the financial and operational metrics required to understand how efficiently the company is operating Establish and maintain relevant efficiency KPIs, including measures relating to cost per customer / transaction / unit, departmental efficiency, operating margin, cost-to-serve, customer and product profitability, and resource utilisation Work with management to identify areas where performance or profitability can be improved Design and own a high-quality management reporting framework Produce clear, timely and decision-focused reporting covering operational KPIs, efficiency metrics, departmental performance, margin and profitability, and key risks and opportunities Develop dashboards and reporting that allow management to quickly understand what happened, why it happened, what is likely to happen next, and what action should be taken As capability is demonstrated, expand into areas such as company strategy, board reporting, strategic financial planning, capital allocation, funding and banking relationships, commercial negotiations, investment decisions, business cases, risk management, corporate structure, and M&A opportunities About you Qualified or highly experienced Management Accountant, Commercial Accountant, or Finance Manager who is ready for significantly greater ownership Experience establishing or improving a management reporting environment would be highly regarded Highly self-motivated – you do not wait to be told what needs to be done Commercially minded – you understand that finance exists to help the business make better decisions Analytical – you naturally investigate why numbers have changed rather than simply reporting them Hands-on – you are prepared to work at both detailed and strategic levels Accountable – when you take responsibility for something, you own the outcome Ambitious – you genuinely want to develop into a senior finance leader and CFO
