Conservation Officer (Hong Kong Biodiversity)

Key Responsibilities Contribute to biodiversity conservation in Hong Kong, particularly in high development pressure areas such as the Northern Metropolis and Lantau Island, through advocacy, fieldwork, research, and technical studies Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of biodiversity conservation projects and initiatives Conduct literature reviews, data analysis, and relevant desktop studies to inform conservation strategies Engage and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including government authorities, professional bodies, and local communities Assist in preparing policy submissions, consultation responses, and recommendations on development plans and environmental policies Carry out field surveys and site monitoring as required Collaborate closely with internal teams across WWF-HK to achieve integrated and synergistic conservation outcomes Work across biodiversity and policy functions under Hong Kong Biodiversity, with guidance from team managers Provide support to senior team members on publications, outreach activities, and administrative tasks as needed Required Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor’s degree in Conservation, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience Fluent in Cantonese and English, with working knowledge of Putonghua Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; GIS knowledge is highly desirable Sound understanding of local conservation issues in Hong Kong Physically fit and willing to undertake outdoor fieldwork Strong interest in local flora and fauna; professional field identification skills are an advantage Additional skills such as wildlife photography, drone operation, and graphic design will be an asset Required Behavioural Skills: Strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of WWF-Hong Kong Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment Proactive, open-minded, and solution-oriented with a “can-do” attitude Candidates with more extensive experience and/or relevant expertise may be considered for the position of Senior Conservation Officer.
