Now is your chance to take on a high-impact commercial role in one of New Zealand’s leading infrastructure organisations. They’re a team built on authenticity, integrity, and doing what they say they will deliver. As part of an exciting transformation they are looking for a commercial leader to drive performance from the ground up. As the Contract & Commercial Manager you will take ownership of the commercial, operational, and financial performance across their Auckland division. If you have a solid finance background, have lived and breathed contracting, and love getting under the hood of a business alongside operational teams, this is a fantastic position for you. About the Role Reporting to the Head of Commercial Performance and sitting right alongside the General Manager and operational leaders, you will act as the commercial engine room for the Auckland division. Leading a dedicated team including a Finance Manager and Senior Business Analyst, you will oversee major long-term maintenance and construction contracts with high-profile partners. Your primary focus is partnering directly with operational and delivery managers to ensure projects are delivered profitably and smoothly. You will bridge the gap between financial targets and operational reality, getting on-site, understanding daily delivery struggles, and embedding commercial discipline. What You’ll Do: Lead the commercial and financial performance of the Auckland division. Drive annual budgeting, forecasting and monthly performance reporting. Analyse business performance, identify trends and implement improvement initiatives. Partner with operational leaders to maximise profitability and cash flow. Lead monthly commercial and project reviews across the division. Provide commercial leadership across contract negotiations, variations, claims and dispute management. Review pricing strategies and support estimating teams to improve commercial outcomes. Develop commercial strategies that support long-term business growth. Strengthen project controls, governance and commercial disciplines across the division. Lead and mentor a team including the Finance Manager and Senior Business Analyst. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. What You’ll Bring: A tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Accounting or Finance. Experience in senior commercial, finance or business leadership roles. Proven experience managing commercial performance within a contracting, infrastructure, engineering or project-based environment. Strong financial management, budgeting and forecasting expertise. Extensive experience in contract and project commercial management. Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to influence senior stakeholders. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Experience leading business improvement and change initiatives. A collaborative leadership style with the ability to coach and develop high-performing teams. The business is also happy to train and develop you on the leadership side if you bring the core commercial expertise. If you’re curious about this opportunity and love the idea of driving real commercial impact, please go ahead and apply or get in touch with Greta at greta@mixrecruitment.co.nz .
