About the role The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting and financial activities of the freight forwarding/NVOCC company, ensuring accurate recording of revenue, expenses, customer invoices, supplier invoices, receipts, payments, bank transactions, and shipment-related financial data. The role requires close coordination with Sales, Pricing, Customer Service, Operations, Documentation, Shipping Lines, Overseas Agents, Transport Providers, Customers, and Management to ensure accurate billing, timely collections, proper vendor payments, and effective financial control. The Accountant will also support management with financial reports, cash-flow monitoring, receivables/payables management, shipment profitability, and compliance with applicable accounting and tax requirements. Key responsibilities Maintain accurate day-to-day accounting records and ensure all accounting transactions are properly supported by relevant documentation Record sales invoices, purchase/vendor invoices, receipts, payments, credit notes, debit notes, and journal entries in the accounting/ERP system Coordinate with Customer Service and Operations to identify shipments ready for invoicing and verify all billable services are included in customer invoices Maintain accurate customer receivable records, monitor outstanding balances, prepare customer statements, and follow up on overdue payments Process and verify supplier invoices against quotations, rate agreements, and supporting documents before payment Verify shipping line invoices against agreed freight rates and identify incorrect, duplicate, or unexpected charges Maintain accurate financial information at shipment/job level and compare revenue against direct shipment costs Record daily bank transactions, perform regular bank reconciliations, and monitor company bank balances Maintain accounts payable/receivable records relating to overseas agents and reconcile agent statements regularly Prepare or assist in preparing regular financial reports including Profit & Loss Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Report, and Accounts Receivable/Payable Aging reports About you Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field preferred 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience Experience in freight forwarding, NVOCC, shipping, logistics, or transportation is highly preferred Strong knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping Experience with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Strong reconciliation skills and good knowledge of bank reconciliation Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy Excellent Excel skills and experience with accounting software/ERP systems Good analytical and problem-solving skills with strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to handle confidential financial information and work under deadlines, particularly during month-end closing
