Pricing Executive – Sea Freight / NVOCC

About the role The Pricing Executive – Sea Freight / NVOCC is responsible for managing ocean freight procurement, rate negotiation, space availability, and pricing support across key global trade lanes. The role involves obtaining and maintaining competitive weekly ocean freight rates for COC and SOC, negotiating with shipping lines and vessel operators, checking vessel schedules and space availability, and supporting the Sales, Customer Service, and Operations teams with competitive and commercially viable freight solutions. The position will work closely with shipping lines, vessel operators, NVOCC partners, overseas agents, customers, Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and Finance to secure competitive rates and reliable space for confirmed and prospective shipments. Key responsibilities Obtain and update weekly ocean freight rates from shipping lines, vessel operators, NVOCCs, and other approved service providers for COC and SOC across key global trade lanes including USA/North America, Europe, Indian Subcontinent, Middle East/Gulf, Red Sea, Intra-Asia, Southeast Asia, and Far East Develop and maintain strong working relationships with shipping lines and vessel operators, communicating regularly with carrier sales and pricing representatives to negotiate competitive ocean freight rates based on volume, trade lane, commodity, equipment type, customer requirements, shipment frequency, and market conditions Check vessel space availability with multiple shipping lines for customer requirements based on POL, POD, equipment type, container quantity, cargo readiness, required ETD, and required ETA Check and maintain updated ETD and ETA information for relevant trade lanes, compare vessel schedules and transit times across different carriers, and monitor vessel changes, blank sailings, rollovers, delays, and schedule changes Obtain the best available ocean freight rate for confirmed customer shipments by comparing rates across multiple shipping lines and vessel operators, and select the most commercially suitable carrier based on freight rate, space availability, ETD, ETA, transit time, service reliability, equipment availability, and customer requirements Coordinate closely with Customer Service and Operations after a shipment is confirmed, provide selected carrier, rate, vessel, ETD/ETA, and routing details, and assist in placing the booking with the selected shipping line Prepare rate comparison sheets covering carrier, POL/POD, COC/SOC, freight rate, applicable surcharges, ETD, ETA, transit time, service type, free time, equipment availability, rate validity, and other applicable conditions Obtain and maintain current information on applicable ocean freight surcharges including BAF, CAF, PSS, GRI, PCS, War Risk/Emergency Surcharges, Documentation Charges, Origin/Destination Charges, and other carrier-specific surcharges Support the Sales team with competitive ocean freight rates for customer quotations, respond quickly to rate requests and spot quotation requirements, and provide multiple carrier/service options where appropriate Maintain an accurate and updated pricing database, enter weekly carrier rates into the company pricing system/ERP/Excel, maintain rate validity and expiry information, and ensure Sales, Customer Service, and Operations teams have access to the latest approved rates About you Strong knowledge of Ocean Freight / Sea Freight Pricing Good understanding of COC and SOC movements Strong knowledge of major global trade lanes Good understanding of shipping line services and vessel schedules Strong negotiation skills Excellent communication and relationship-management skills Strong analytical and rate-comparison abilities Good knowledge of ocean freight surcharges Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with ERP/freight forwarding systems Bachelor's degree/Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, Shipping, International Business, or related field preferred; 2–5 years of relevant experience in ocean freight pricing, freight forwarding, NVOCC, shipping line, or logistics
