Data Engineer - (Independent Contractor for 6-12 months) Are you a data-driven problem solver with a passion for building ETL pipelines, data infrastructure, and scalable data workflows? We’re seeking experienced Data Engineers to design, develop, and optimise data solutions that drive analytics, reporting and machine learning initiatives. Your Role As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes, ensuring high-quality data for analytics. You will collaborate with a team of data engineers to enable data-driven decision-making. Our client is a leader in the Oil & Gas sector, offering exposure to high-impact data projects in a dynamic environment. Your Responsibilities Design and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data. Build and maintain scalable data warehouses/lakes (Azure Synapse, Snowflake, etc.). Develop SQL queries, data models, and stored procedures for analytics. Implement data validation, cleansing, and quality checks. Support ML/AI workflows by preparing datasets for model training. Automate data processes using Azure Data Factory, Python, or Spark. Optimise data performance, cost, and scalability in cloud environments. Troubleshoot and resolve production data issues. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, AI/ML, or a related field. Minimum 2-3 years of working experience in data engineering, ETL, or database management. Strong skills in: a. Python (data processing) b. ETL tools (Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Databricks, etc.) c. SQL (query tuning, data modeling, optimization) d. Power BI / DAX (Good to have) Attention to details, strong commitment to deadlines and data accuracy. Strong communication skills, problem-solving skills and ability to work in a hybrid team. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully.
