HEAT PUMP INSTALLER / QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN

You might have done your time as an electrician, worked across plenty of different types of electrical work and figured out that heat pump installation is the part of the trade you really enjoy. If that sounds like you, we should talk. Ace Electrics is looking for an experienced Heat Pump Installer / Qualified Electrician to join our team in Palmerston North. This isn't a general electrician role where you'll occasionally get sent to install a heat pump. Heat pumps will be your focus. You'll spend the majority of your time installing high-wall heat pumps, along with multi-split and ducted systems throughout the Manawatū. What you'll be doing You'll take responsibility for delivering high-quality heat pump installations from start to finish, including: Installing high-wall heat pump systems Installing multi-split systems Installing residential and light-commercial ducted systems Running and installing refrigerant pipework Installing ducting, grilles, diffusers and associated components Installing condensate drainage Positioning and mounting indoor and outdoor units Completing the electrical work associated with installations Pressure testing, evacuating and commissioning systems Fault finding and resolving installation issues Working with customers to achieve practical, tidy installation outcomes Completing required electrical and installation documentation Working alongside and directing a Labourer / Trade Assistant where required Taking ownership of the quality and presentation of completed installations You'll have the support of the wider Ace team, but we want someone who can confidently take an installation and own it from start to finish. Who we're looking for Ideally, you're a New Zealand registered electrician with heat pump installation experience who has decided this is the area you want to focus on. You'll ideally: Hold a current NZ electrical practising licence Have experience installing high-wall heat pumps Have experience with, or an interest in developing further capability in, ducted and multi-split systems Understand refrigerant pipework, pressure testing, evacuation, brazing and commissioning Be confident completing the electrical component of installations Be able to determine practical and tidy installation routes Have good fault-finding and problem-solving skills Produce neat, well-considered installations Be comfortable dealing directly with customers Be capable of working independently and taking ownership of jobs Work well alongside apprentices, labourers and other members of the team Hold a full NZ driver licence Relevant refrigerant handling qualifications and manufacturer training would be an advantage. If you're an experienced Heat Pump Installer but aren't a registered electrician, we'd still be interested in hearing from you. The person matters too Technical ability is important. So is how you work. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, communicates well, respects customers' homes and businesses and cares about the standard of the finished job.
