About the role Te Ara Kaihanga is seeking a Qualified Roofer to join our growing team in Whangarei Central Northland. This is a full-time position offering a rewarding opportunity to work on diverse roofing projects across the region. As a Qualified Roofer, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality roofing solutions to our clients, ensuring safety standards are met and projects are completed to specification. This role is central to maintaining Te Ara Kaihanga's reputation for excellence in the building trades sector. Key responsibilities Installing, repairing and maintaining roofs using various materials and techniques in accordance with industry standards and health and safety regulations Assessing roof conditions and identifying maintenance or repair requirements for clients Measuring and cutting roofing materials with precision to ensure proper fit and finish Applying waterproofing materials, sealants and protective coatings to roof surfaces Working safely at heights and adhering to all site-specific safety protocols and procedures Liaising with site supervisors, project managers and other tradespeople to ensure coordinated project delivery Maintaining tools and equipment in good working order and reporting any defects promptly Keeping accurate records of work completed and materials used on each project Contributing to a positive team culture and supporting colleagues on site What we're looking for Current New Zealand roofing qualification or equivalent recognised certification demonstrating competency in roofing trades Proven experience of at least 3-5 years working as a qualified roofer on residential, commercial or industrial projects Strong knowledge of roofing materials, including tiles, slates, metal roofing, membrane systems and weatherproofing techniques Proficiency in reading and interpreting building plans, specifications and technical drawings Current First Aid certification and Working at Heights qualification Demonstrated commitment to health and safety practices on construction sites Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment Valid New Zealand driver's licence and reliable transport to site locations Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and training What we offer Te Ara Kaihanga is committed to supporting our employees' success and wellbeing.
