Lead Risk & Assurance Strengthen resilience Partner with business leaders The Organisation: This organisation is one of Aotearoa New Zealand's largest tertiary education providers, guided by kaupapa Māori values and committed to transforming lives through education. Reporting to the Director Strategy & Transformation, you will lead all audit, risk and assurance functions, providing trusted advice to executives, governance committees, and the Audit & Risk Committee. This is a strategic leadership role where you'll strengthen organisational resilience, enhance governance, and support informed decision-making across the organisation. Key Responsibilities Lead enterprise-wide audit, risk and assurance frameworks Deliver the annual internal audit programme and reporting Partner with senior leaders to strengthen governance and accountability Identify and manage strategic, operational and regulatory risks Support compliance obligations and continuous improvement Build organisational capability in risk and assurance practices About You You are a seasoned audit and risk leader with the credibility to influence at executive and governance levels. You combine strategic thinking with practical delivery and are committed to building robust, future-focused risk and assurance practices. You'll Bring Extensive experience in internal audit, risk management or assurance leadership Proven success leading enterprise risk and audit programmes Experience advising boards, audit and risk committees, or governance groups Strong knowledge of audit, risk and internal control frameworks Excellent analytical, stakeholder engagement and communication skills A commitment to kaupapa Māori values and approaches Preferred Master's qualification in a relevant discipline CIA, CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification and/or membership of a recognised professional body This role could be based in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington or Christchurch and will require travel.
