Assistant Manager (AP&AR - Mandarin speaker)

About the role Startek Malaysia is seeking a talented Mandarin-speaking Assistant Manager to join our accounting team to lead AP & AR functions at our office in Ara Damansara, Selangor. This is a full-time opportunity for someone with a passion for finance and accounting and team management experience. Job Responsibilities Oversee and manage the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions , ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies. Lead, supervise, and develop a team of approximately 25 finance staff members across AP and AR operations. Monitor daily accounting activities, including invoice processing, vendor payments, collections, customer reconciliations, and cash application. Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing processes related to AP and AR activities. Review and validate accounting entries to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. Resolve escalated issues related to the client, vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders in a professional and timely manner. Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. Support audit activities by preparing required schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Assist in the preparation of financial reports and management presentations. Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory requirements, and financial regulations. Train, coach, and mentor team members to enhance their technical knowledge and professional development. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines. Minimum 3-4 years of experience handling full sets of accounts, with strong exposure to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Proven experience in team leadership or supervisory responsibilities is preferred. Fluent in Mandarin and English, both written and spoken, to support communication with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and accounting systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in Shared Services, BPO, or multinational environments. Experience managing medium to large-sized accounting teams. Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, MIA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
