Your new role This company is looking for a hands-on Production Planner to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is ideal for someone with a mechanical trade background, diesel mechanic qualification, heavy vehicle experience or auto electrical trade who is looking to move into a planning and coordination role with a leading equipment manufacturer and service provider. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will work closely with Workshop Supervisors, Parts, Service Technicians and Operations teams to plan and coordinate workshop activities to ensure customer builds, refurbishments, machine servicing and equipment modifications are completed safely, on time and efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity for a trade-qualified professional who understands what it takes to complete complex mechanical work and can effectively coordinate labour, materials and schedules to maximise productivity. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain workshop production schedules for machine builds, repairs, refurbishments and servicing activities. Coordinate labour allocation across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and fabrication teams. Monitor job progress and adjust schedules to accommodate changing priorities and customer requirements. Work closely with Parts and Procurement teams to ensure materials are available when required. Liaise with Workshop Supervisors to identify resource constraints and improve workflow efficiency. Track project milestones and provide regular updates to customers and internal stakeholders. Assist in forecasting labour requirements and workshop capacity planning. Maintain production reporting, KPI tracking and job status documentation. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality and delivery performance. Ensure all planning activities align with safety, compliance and quality standards. About you To be successful in this role, you will bring: Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, Automotive Mechanic, Auto Electrician or similar. Strong understanding of workshop operations, maintenance schedules and repair processes. Previous experience planning, coordinating or supervising maintenance, service or production activities. Ability to interpret technical drawings, service information and job specifications. Excellent organisational and scheduling skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments. Experience with ERP, MRP or workshop management systems will be highly regarded. Intermediate to advanced computer skills, particularly within Excel. A proactive and solutions-focused approach to work.
