Role Description The Business Services Payroll Intern position is an exciting opportunity for candidates who thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced business process outsourcing (BPO) environment. The Payroll Intern supports the delivery of accurate and timely payroll services to multiple clients across different industries and countries, with a strong focus on Japan-based subsidiaries of global companies. Working under the guidance of Senior Consultants and Managers, the role is responsible for preparing, validating, and processing payroll data while ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and client policies. Structured on-the-job training will be provided for Japan and other country-specific payroll processes, local regulations, and internal systems. This internship offers valuable exposure to regional payroll operations and client management within a consulting environment, providing a strong foundation for career growth in payroll and HR advisory services. Responsibilities Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Assist with payroll data collection, input, calculation, and validation within agreed timelines. Support new joiner and leaver processes, including onboarding/offboarding updates and statutory submissions. Respond to client queries related to payroll and benefits processes within the established target timeline, under supervision. Maintain accurate payroll records, employee files, and documentation in line with confidentiality and compliance requirements. Support ad-hoc initiatives and projects as needed. Required Qualifications Skills and Experience: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification/business experience. Business-level English reading and writing skills. Ability to read and write Chinese characters is an added advantage. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, reliable, and deadline-driven, with strong ownership of accurate and confidential payroll work. Proactive and eager to learn new systems, processes, and statutory requirements. Professional, service-minded, and able to communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.
