About the role This is a hands-on, site-focused position supporting the planning, coordination, documentation and delivery of civil construction projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover. Metroplant & Civil Services is seeking a motivated and experienced Building Associate to join our civil construction team. This is a hands-on, site-focused position supporting the planning, coordination, documentation and delivery of civil construction projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover. Key Responsibilities: · Supervise and coordinate day-to-day building construction activities, including construction crews, subcontractors, trades, suppliers, plant and equipment. · Assist Construction and Project Managers with planning, organising and coordinating building construction works in accordance with project programs, approved plans, specifications and construction requirements. · Interpret building plans, construction drawings and specifications to assist with planning, sequencing and coordinating building works and associated trades. · Organise and coordinate labour, subcontractors, building materials, plant and equipment required to complete scheduled construction activities. · Monitor the progress of building works and liaise with site supervisors, subcontractors, trades and management to resolve site constraints, coordinate work priorities and maintain construction schedules. · Inspect building works, materials and workmanship to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements, building requirements and applicable standards. · Assist with coordinating building inspections, permits, approvals, site safety requirements, pre-start activities and other requirements necessary for the progression of construction works. · Prepare and revise construction drawings, site mark-ups, site plans and as-built documentation, and maintain controlled project drawing and document records. · Assist with calculating and monitoring construction quantities, building material requirements, project costs and construction timeframes. · Obtain and assess quotations from building suppliers and subcontractors and assist with procurement, variations, material orders and project cost-control activities. · Maintain building construction, quality and compliance records, including inspection documentation, non-conformance records, corrective actions and relevant site records. · Provide regular updates to Construction and Project Managers regarding building progress, labour and material requirements, subcontractor activities, site constraints, upcoming works and project completion requirements. About you: · Relevant qualifications in building and construction, civil construction, engineering, construction management or a related discipline. · Practical experience supporting the delivery of civil construction, infrastructure or related projects. · Experience working on active construction sites and coordinating site activities. · Ability to interpret civil construction drawings, plans, specifications and technical documentation. · Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills. · Ability to coordinate effectively with supervisors, construction crews, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders. · Good written communication and project-record-keeping skills.
