About the role We are seeking an experienced IT Manager to join our organisation. This is a strategic leadership position that will oversee all information technology operations, infrastructure, and digital initiatives across the company. As IT Manager, you will be responsible for aligning our technology strategy with business objectives, ensuring robust system performance, and leading a team to deliver reliable IT services that support our maritime operations. This role is pivotal in modernising our IT landscape and enabling the company to operate efficiently in an increasingly digital maritime industry. Key responsibilities Lead and manage the Company's IT operations, supporting both shore-based offices and the fleet. Develop and implement IT strategies, policies, infrastructure improvements and technology initiatives aligned with business needs. Manage IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, computers, hardware, software and related systems to ensure reliability and minimal downtime. Provide technical leadership and oversee IT support, troubleshooting and incident resolution for office and vessel operations. Identify opportunities for digitalisation, automation, cloud solutions and technology upgrades to improve efficiency and security. Manage and support key business systems, including the Bassnet Purchasing System , Savvy Marine System and other business or vessel-related applications. Oversee user access, system administration, vendor registration, system configuration and troubleshooting for Bassnet. Lead the testing, implementation and integration of new IT systems and technologies, including vessel-related systems. Manage IT and communication support for the Company's fleet, including satellite and ship-to-shore communication systems such as VSAT, Inmarsat, Satellite-C, Satellite-F and VoIP. Coordinate and monitor IT and communication installations, upgrades and testing during vessel dry-docking and other operational requirements. Ensure the availability and continuity of communication between shore and vessel operations. Develop and maintain cybersecurity measures, including network security, antivirus, firewall, email protection, system updates, backups and disaster recovery. Monitor software licences, subscriptions, domain names and IT security solutions to ensure timely renewal and compliance. Establish and maintain appropriate IT policies, controls, documentation and processes to support governance, compliance and audit requirements. Coordinate internal and external IT audits, follow up on audit findings and implement corrective actions where required. Conduct periodic reviews of IT systems, user access, cybersecurity controls, software licences and backup arrangements. Develop and manage the annual IT budget, including hardware, software, maintenance, subscriptions, vessel communications and IT improvement projects. Manage relationships with IT vendors, software providers, telecommunication providers and equipment suppliers. Monitor vendor performance, service contracts, maintenance, warranties and renewal requirements. Work closely with the Finance Department to ensure IT-related invoices, subscriptions and communication services are processed accurately and on time. Maintain proper records of IT assets, licences, subscriptions, maintenance contracts and renewal schedules. Ensure timely IT onboarding for new employees, including computer setup, email, system access, network access and other authorised applications. Ensure prompt removal of system access and IT accounts for employees leaving the Company to protect Company information. Promote cybersecurity awareness and provide guidance to employees on IT security best practices. Carry out other IT-related duties and projects as assigned by Management. What we're looking for Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or a related field. Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, IT support or IT management, with experience in a supervisory or leadership role. Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, LAN/WAN, hardware and system administration. Good knowledge of cybersecurity, firewalls, antivirus, backup, disaster recovery and network security. Experience in managing IT projects, budgets, vendors, software licences and IT assets. Knowledge or experience in Bassnet or similar ERP, procurement or maritime management systems will be an added advantage. Knowledge of vessel communication systems such as VSAT, Inmarsat and satellite communication will be an advantage. Experience in the maritime, shipping or marine industry is preferred but not mandatory. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and project management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to critical IT incidents. Good communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical users. Strong understanding of IT governance, audit, compliance and cybersecurity best practices. Able to work independently and provide after-hours or emergency support when required for critical office or fleet operations.
