Design Manager (Construction)

Due to continued growth and several new project commencements, Builtcom (our construction arm) is seeking an experienced and capable Design Manager to join our Construction team and play an instrumental role in delivering our mixed-use high-rise residential projects. What You’ll Be Doing: Plan, programme and manage the design process to ensure project milestones are achieved and stakeholders deliver within agreed timeframes. Select, engage, coordinate and manage consultants, driving high-quality, timely design outcomes while facilitating design meetings to resolve issues. Review and challenge design solutions to improve constructability, identify efficiencies, and undertake value engineering to optimise project outcomes. Develop and maintain design programmes, administering consultant and subcontractor agreements throughout the design process. Ensure design documentation and shop drawings are accurate, coordinated, reviewed, and approved prior to construction. Ensure designs comply with contractual obligations, the DBPA 2020, the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards and relevant project requirements. Recommend cost-effective construction methodologies and incorporate practical construction strategies into the design. Coordinate the handover of design documentation to the construction team and provide ongoing design support during delivery. What We're Looking For: Relevant tertiary qualifications in construction, architecture, engineering, or another related field Proven experience in design management on high-rise residential projects. (ideally 10+ years) Demonstrated ability to deliver projects in excess of $50M+ Excellent leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills Comprehensive understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC), Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020 (DBPA), and relevant Australian Standards.
