About the employer Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Auto Electrician to join a professional heavy vehicle team in Christchurch. This is a well-established heavy vehicle specialist with a strong reputation for quality workmanship, reliable service, and keeping commercial vehicles on the road. About the role Diagnosing, repairing and maintaining electrical systems on heavy commercial vehicles Electrical fault-finding across modern heavy vehicle systems Diagnosing wiring, sensors, lighting, charging and starting systems Working with CAN-bus, electronic control modules and vehicle communication systems Using modern diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify electrical faults Installing and repairing vehicle electrical accessories and equipment Carrying out electrical repairs and modifications Supporting mechanical technicians with complex electrical diagnostics Attending breakdowns and completing field-based electrical repairs when required Completing workshop-based electrical repairs and maintenance Maintaining accurate service records and ensuring all work meets required standards What we're looking for The priority is an experienced Auto Electrician with a strong electrical diagnostic background and experience working on trucks, heavy vehicles, or commercial equipment. Qualified Auto Electrician Proven experience working on heavy commercial vehicles Experience using diagnostic equipment with strong electrical diagnostic and fault-finding skills Good understanding of modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems Experience with CAN-bus and vehicle communication systems is advantageous Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams Strong understanding of batteries, charging and starting systems Ability to work independently and manage your own workload Full and clean driver's licence Class 2 licence or higher would be advantageous Strong focus on safety, quality and customer service Positive, professional, and team-oriented approach What's on offer This is an opportunity to join an employer that genuinely invests in its people and offers the stability of a long-term career.
