Quality & Compliance Manager Location: Hong Kong About the Role HydraPak is looking for an experienced Quality & Compliance Manager to lead product quality, regulatory compliance, and laboratory testing across our operations in Hong Kong, China, and our supplier base in the Asia region. Based in Hong Kong, this role will work closely with our global Engineering team, HK Merchandising teams, US Operations, contract manufacturers, suppliers, third-party inspection agencies, and testing laboratories. A major focus of the position is ensuring that HydraPak products and materials intended for food and drinking-water contact meet applicable global regulatory and safety requirements. The Manager will own our compliance testing program, work directly with laboratories such as SGS and Intertek, evaluate test results, maintain compliance documentation, and stay current on changing regulations. This is a hands-on position for someone who can combine manufacturing quality expertise with strong technical and regulatory knowledge. Key Responsibilities · Own HydraPak’s global product compliance program for food- and drinking-water-contact products and materials. · Develop and manage annual and product-specific laboratory testing programs, including determining appropriate tests, frequency, and applicable standards. · Coordinate testing with SGS, Intertek, and other qualified laboratories and review test reports for compliance. · Investigate failed or unexpected laboratory results and coordinate root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and retesting. · Coordinate operations of 3rd Party Inspection teams that handle weekly OQC of finished goods across multiple factories · Manage and train remote QC Inspection contractors that work in multiple regions in Asia · Maintain current knowledge of applicable global food-contact regulations, including EU EC Regulations, US FDA, REACH, LFGB, JFRL, and China GB standards. · Maintain compliance records for materials, components, products, test reports, certifications, and declarations of compliance. · Review current and new materials including: TPU, plastics molded components, inks, packaging, and other materials for quality and regulatory risks. · Establish and enforce HydraPak quality standards across all contract manufacturers and subcontractors · Oversee third-party inspection activities and coordinate weekly outgoing quality inspections with factories and the Merchandising team. · Regularly visit suppliers to evaluate manufacturing processes, quality systems, and compliance with HydraPak requirements. · Work with Engineering on new product development, quality specifications, testing methods, and product revisions. · Review factory quality records and implement corrective and preventive actions when necessary. · Support supplier qualification, quality improvement, and resolution of significant manufacturing issues. · Maintain and improve HydraPak’s quality and compliance SOPs, testing protocols, and documentation systems. · Travel regularly to primary factory base in China and suppliers and Asia region, including occasional emergency travel when significant quality issues require immediate attention. Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Food Science, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field. · 5+ years of experience in product quality, regulatory compliance, laboratory testing, supplier quality, or manufacturing quality. · Strong understanding of food-contact materials and product safety requirements. · Experience managing laboratory testing programs and interpreting technical laboratory reports. · Working knowledge of U.S. FDA food-contact requirements, EU food-contact regulations, REACH, LFGB, and/or China GB standards. · Experience working with laboratories such as SGS, Intertek, TÜV, Bureau Veritas, or similar organizations. · Strong understanding of plastics manufacturing and injection molding; experience with TPU, polymers, inks, adhesives, or coatings is highly desirable. · Experience with supplier quality management, third-party inspections, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions. · Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. · Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with Engineering, Merchandising, Operations, suppliers, and laboratories. · Strong ability to communicate and enforce quality and compliance requirements with manufacturing partners. · Excellent written and verbal English skills are mandatory. · Mandarin and Cantonese language skills strongly preferred. · Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout China and Asia Why This Role Matters The Quality & Compliance Manager will play a critical role in ensuring HydraPak products are safe, high quality, globally compliant, and supported by the appropriate testing and documentation.
