Bike Mechanic

About the role Kiwi Journeys is seeking a skilled and passionate Bike Mechanic to join our team in Cromwell, Otago. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining and servicing our fleet of bicycles, ensuring that every guest enjoys a safe, reliable and memorable cycling experience. As a Bike Mechanic, you will be responsible for the upkeep and repair of our equipment, directly contributing to the quality of service we deliver and the satisfaction of our customers. What you'll be doing Performing routine maintenance and repairs on all types of bicycles, including e-bikes, mountain bikes, and trail bikes. Conducting pre-ride safety inspections to ensure all bikes meet safety standards and are in optimal working condition Diagnosing mechanical issues and implementing effective solutions in a timely manner Assist walk-in customers with bike rentals, providing knowledgeable recommendations based on their needs and skill levels. Prepare bikes for pre-booked rentals and guided tours, ensuring they meet the specific requirements of each booking. Managing inventory of spare parts and components, ordering supplies as needed Cleaning and detailing bicycles to maintain professional presentation standards Collaborating with the wider team to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service What we're looking for Proven experience as a Bike Mechanic or similar technical role Strong technical knowledge of bicycle components, systems and repair procedures Proficiency with bicycle maintenance tools and equipment Attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality workmanship Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently Excellent communication and customer service abilities A passion for cycling and outdoor activities Physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks Relevant qualifications or certifications in bike mechanics are advantageous but not essential if you have substantial practical experience About us Kiwi Journeys is a provider of exceptional cycling and outdoor experiences in the Otago region.
