JOB DESCRIPTION – SENIOR SALES ENGINEER (SOLAR DIVISION) Position: Senior Sales Engineer – Solar Department: Solar / Renewable Energy Job Responsibilities · Actively identify, source and develop new Solar PV project opportunities and tenders in the market. · Search for and monitor upcoming private and public tender opportunities, including commercial, industrial and other renewable energy projects. · Develop new business opportunities by approaching potential clients, consultants, developers, main contractors and business partners. · Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers. · Attend client meetings, site visits, networking sessions and industry events to generate new project leads. · Understand client requirements and work closely with the Engineering and Project teams to develop suitable technical and commercial solutions. · Coordinate and prepare tender submissions, proposals, quotations and other commercial documentation. · Review tender requirements, project scope, specifications and commercial conditions before submission. · Follow up closely on submitted tenders and proposals and support commercial negotiations through to project award. · Maintain an active sale and tender pipeline and provide regular updates to Management. · Accurately record all sales activities, client interactions, project leads, tender progress and follow-up actions in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM). · Ensure CRM information is complete, accurate and updated in a timely manner. · Prepare and present regular sales activity reports, pipeline updates, forecasts and business development progress to Management. · Conduct market research on competitors, pricing, upcoming projects and industry developments. · Support Management in developing sales strategies and identifying potential growth opportunities for the Solar Division. · Coordinate the handover of awarded projects to the Project and Engineering teams. Requirements · Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Business or a related field. · Preferably 5–8 years of experience in Technical Sales, Business Development, Tendering or Project Sales. · Experience in the Solar PV, Renewable Energy, Electrical, M&E or EPC industry is highly preferred. · Candidates with an Electrical Engineering background and strong commercial or sales exposure will have an advantage. · Strong experience in sourcing new projects and tender opportunities and developing new clients. · Good understanding of tender processes, quotations, commercial proposals and contract requirements. · Able to understand technical drawings, specifications and basic electrical or solar system requirements. · Experience using CRM systems to maintain sales records, manage pipelines and prepare reports is preferred. · Strong communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills. · Proficiency in Chinese will be considered an advantage, particularly when communicating with Chinese-speaking clients and business partners. · Self-driven and comfortable with outdoor sales, client visits and actively developing new business opportunities. · Possess own transport and be willing to travel for client meetings, site visits and business development activities. Preferred Experience Candidates with an established network among developers, consultants, main contractors, commercial & industrial clients, or renewable energy industry players and a proven track record in securing or developing new project opportunities will be given preference.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
