Summary: The Senior Executive Finance is a finance professional whose role is to support Accounting Manager (AM) in providing accounting and management reporting support to assigned Business Units for the purposes of external reporting and internal management reporting. Key Accountabilities: Accounting, Reporting and Forecasting: Assist the smooth and timely completion of accounting processes, including preparation of Profit & Loss reports, Balance Sheet and Cash Flows. Maintain responsibility for all financial procedures and records relating journal entries, general ledger, trial balances and financial reports including liquidity statements and balance sheet notes. Perform balance sheet review and control, ensuring preparation of Balance Sheet notes, bank reconciliation, subledger reconciliations to GL control accounts. Interact with external and internal audit staff in reviews of accounting systems and controls and oversee implementation of recommended changes to such systems or control procedures. Respond to requests for information and assist Countries on finance and accounting policies. Initiate accounting policy and procedure recommendations and other continuous improvement initiatives. Investment, Capital Expenditure and Risk Management: Monitoring and reporting of capital investments. Reconciliation of capex between accounting, commercial / projects, and tracking of cost to complete. Conduct impairment tests, and other accounting compliance requirements related to assets and investment. Reporting of exposures such as to foreign currency, interest rates, and forecast of such exposure for hedging. Internal Controls & Compliance: Ensures financial transactions are executed and recorded in compliance with applicable policies and procedures Ensure the effectiveness of key internal controls over Finance Reporting, and the assurance over financial results in accordance with applicable standards e.g., revenue and cost recognition, expenditure capitalization, etc. Custodian of internal financial controls, where necessary, interfacing between the line management and finance subfunctions on issues resolution, (e.g. AP, AR, Accounting, Treasury) Taxation: Ensure books of accounts are kept in compliance with tax requirements such as Intercompany procedures, Transfer Pricing procedures and Indirect tax compliance. Others: Any other duties as assigned by superior. Requirements: Travel Required: No travel required. Educational Qualifications/ Professional Certifications: Degree in Finance and Accounting, Professional Certificate (CATACCA). Experience: 5 - 10 years post qualification experience in a relevant industry. Technical Competencies: Problem Solving: Creative and innovative quality solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness, quality conscious in financial reporting to ensure comprehensibility and user friendliness. Accounting Discipline: Well verse in accounting policies and procedures, and exercise sound judgment and diligence in compliance, escalates issues when necessary. Attention to detail and ability to cope with several tasks simultaneously and be deadline oriented. Leadership Competencies: Functions independently and in a team, project management. skills, mentoring skills, and set/accomplish objectives. Communication: advanced oral/written communication skills, negotiate effectively where necessary, dispute resolution, interacts frequently with peer groups, subordinates and senior management.
