Predictive Recruitment Partners has been engaged by Trasan Contracting to find an experienced, driven Operations Manager who can take ownership of day-to-day operations, lead a capable team, and deliver consistently high-quality outcomes for clients across the Pilbara. If you are a decisive, commercially minded leader who thrives in complex operational environments and holds themself to exacting standards, this role has your name on it. About Trasan Contracting: Trasan Contracting is a family-owned and operated, multi-disciplinary building services company that has called Karratha home since 1997. Locally based and proudly community-minded, Trasan has built a strong reputation across the Pilbara region for delivering quality construction and maintenance services to clients in the resource, public, industrial, commercial, and private property sectors. Over the years, Trasan has delivered prestigious contracts for organisations including Woodside, the Pilbara Ports Authority, Horizon Power, and local and state government. Their experienced team, people who know the Pilbara well, is what sets them apart. Trasan believes in employing locally, buying locally, and giving back to the local community through sponsorship of junior sporting clubs, involvement in schools and training programmes, and strong relationships with local businesses and trades. This is a team built on trust, quality, and doing things right, every time. About the role: This is a senior leadership role with broad accountability across Trasan's Karratha operations. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the full operational performance of the business: managing project delivery across multiple concurrent jobs, leading and developing the team, overseeing procurement and logistics, maintaining QHSE standards, and supporting the commercial success of the business. You will operate with genuine authority and autonomy. This is not a role that comes with a script. You will be expected to make decisions, solve problems, and drive outcomes, while holding the business and the people within it to a high standard of quality and safety. Your key accountabilities will include: Project delivery, ensuring all jobs are completed on time, within budget, and to Trasan's quality standards, with 90% or more of projects delivered on target Procurement and logistics, coordinating all materials, plant and transport between workshop and project sites to ensure zero critical delays QHSE management, maintaining all quality, health, safety and environmental documentation to audit-ready standard and driving a zero-harm safety culture Labour utilisation, achieving 95% or greater labour recovery across workshop and site-based personnel Workforce leadership, developing, retaining and, when necessary, managing the performance of Trasan's people in collaboration with the Managing Director Commercial support, assisting with quoting and ensuring quoted jobs are profitable and consistent with Trasan's annual operating plan About you: You are a results-oriented, analytically minded leader who combines high personal standards with the drive to get things done. You thrive in fast-paced, multi-project environments where no two days are the same, and you have the experience and composure to make sound decisions under pressure. You lead from the front. You hold yourself and your team to exacting standards, but you do it through clear communication, direct accountability, and follow-through, not through micromanagement. You understand that the quality of the outcome depends on the quality of the process, and you build the systems and disciplines that make consistent delivery possible. You are technically capable and commercially astute. You can read a job cost report, identify a margin risk, and take corrective action before a problem becomes a cost. You understand procurement, logistics, and resource scheduling, and you know how to coordinate moving parts across a complex operational environment. You are not someone who needs constant direction. You take the initiative, identify problems before they escalate, and communicate directly with stakeholders at every level, from tradespeople on site to clients and the Managing Director. Key Traits for Success in This Role: Results-Oriented and Driven: You focus on outcomes. You set clear expectations, follow through relentlessly, and hold yourself and your team accountable for delivery Analytical and Technically Capable: You make decisions based on facts, data and careful analysis, not assumptions. You understand the numbers and use them to drive operational improvement Direct and Authoritative: You communicate clearly, confidently and without ambiguity. You can have a difficult conversation when it is needed, and you do not shy away from making a call High Standards, High Quality: You do not accept mediocrity in yourself or others. You understand that Trasan's reputation is built job by job, and you protect it accordingly Proactive and Initiative-Driven: You identify issues early, act without waiting to be told, and bring solutions rather than problems to the Managing Director What you bring to the role: Demonstrated experience in operations or construction management, with accountability for multi-project delivery, budget performance, and team leadership A relevant qualification in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field Proven ability to manage procurement, logistics and resource scheduling in a project-based environment Experience working with integrated management systems and maintaining QHSE documentation to audit standard Strong financial management capability, including the preparation and analysis of labour and materials cost reporting Sound knowledge of employment legislation and workforce management, including performance management and industrial relations Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including the ability to manipulate data in spreadsheets and extract reports from business management systems A track record of managing long-term client relationships in a service delivery environment What we can offer: Trasan offers a genuine leadership opportunity in one of Western Australia's most established Pilbara construction businesses. You will have real authority, a capable team behind you, and the backing of a Managing Director who values operational excellence and trusts their people to deliver. As a locally based role in Karratha, you will be embedded in the community, enjoying the sporting and recreational activities that the Pilbara is known for, and working alongside people who are genuinely invested in the business and the region. There is no camp roster, no time away from home, and no bureaucratic layers between you and the decisions that matter. The package reflects the seniority and responsibility of the role: $170,000 to $175,000 per annum plus superannuation, plus a vehicle. If you are relocating to Karratha, Trasan can assist with locating a rental property and you may also be eligible for regional rent benefits (calculations available on request). Additionally, you’ll enjoy up to 10 RDOs per year and 2 return flights to Perth per year. This is a role where you can build something lasting. Trasan has the reputation, the client relationships, and the operational platform. What it needs now is the right leader to take it forward. What you must have to apply for this role: Full working rights to work in Australia Ability to work full time, locally based in Karratha Demonstrated operations or construction management experience with multi-project accountability Strong leadership capability with a proven track record of team performance and retention A current driver's licence The following will also be highly regarded: Diploma or higher qualification in construction management, engineering, or a related field Prior experience in the Pilbara or other remote Western Australian construction environments Experience with ISO-certified integrated management systems Familiarity with Trasan's sectors: resources, public, industrial, and commercial construction and maintenance Additional Information: Eligibility: This position is available to permanent Australian residents or applicants with a valid work visa that enables them to work in Australia without restriction.
