We are currently establishing a greenfield Network Operations Centre (NOC) in Kuala Lumpur to provide critical support for our proprietary data centers and bespoke client network environments. This represents a unique opportunity to join an elite, high-performance operations team. You will be at the forefront of managing a large-scale, highly automated, and pioneering AI-driven infrastructure environment. This role is ideally suited to an ambitious Network Operations Engineer looking to transition into a large-scale enterprise or hyperscale environment. You will gain invaluable exposure to state-of-the-art automation and sophisticated network operations, working within a culture of technical excellence and innovation. Core Responsibilities: Serve as the primary point of contact for network incidents and operational issues, ensuring a swift and professional response. Monitor and support network infrastructure across routing and switching platforms for both Data Centers and client sites. Perform comprehensive Layer 1 to Layer 3 fault isolation and advanced troubleshooting. Manage and resolve incidents in strict accordance with defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Escalate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure the timely restoration of services. Maintain meticulous and accurate documentation of all incidents, resolutions, and network modifications. Adhere to established operational procedures while actively contributing to continuous process improvements. Support network Moves, Adds, and Changes (MAC) within both Data Centre and customer network environments. Contribute to monitoring optimization, reporting, and the development of new automation initiatives. Undertake on-site installations and field-based tasks as and when required. Essential Skills and Experience: A robust understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, VLANs, routing protocols, and switching principles. Hands-on experience with Cisco, FortiGate, Mikrotik and other major routing and switching technologies. Proven experience operating within a professional Network Operations Centre (NOC) or an enterprise-grade, large-scale network environment. Practical experience utilizing industry-standard network monitoring tools and service desk ticketing platforms. The ability to accurately diagnose and isolate complex network faults across both physical and logical layers. Exceptional communication skills, with a high level of accuracy and diligence in technical documentation and reporting. Preferred Qualifications: Candidates holding a CCNA or equivalent industry-recognized network certifications are preferred. Prior experience within a Telecommunications, Service Provider, or large-scale Enterprise environment. Exposure to Network Automation, Scripting, or the optimization of monitoring systems. Candidates with less experience will be considered for the Associate Engineer position, offering a structured path for professional development. Proficiency in Mandarin and Cantonese is preferred, as the role requires regular communication with and reporting to the Regional SOC Team across Southeast Asia (SEA) and Asia-Pacific (APAC).

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
