Here at Griffin’s Snacks, we’re part of the Intersnack Group, a global snack food leader operating in over 30 countries. However, whilst internationally owned, we manufacture locally and proudly produce some of New Zealand’s favourite snack brands - including Snackachangi, ETA, Proper Crisps, Griffin’s, Huntley & Palmers, Mexicano and Nice & Natural. We are seeking a qualified Electrician with a passion for automation to take up the role of Automation Electrician. Reporting to our Maintenance Manager and working closely with our Electrical and Automation Project Manager, this permanent, waged role is located at our Wiri manufacturing site. You’ll enjoy varied work, on-going personal development and a fixed roster (approx. 7:00am -3.30pm) Monday to Friday. In this hands-on role, you’ll be supporting production through implementing electrical automation-related upgrades, installations, and troubleshooting. We're looking for someone who really thrives on a challenge, has a solutions-focused approach and who is all about rolling up their sleeves and getting the job done! What you’ll be responsible for: Designing and providing diagnostic/installation support of PLC systems, including programming Planning and implementing new installations and repairs/upgrades, including sourcing new and replacement components Designing, modifying and upgrading safety circuits Diagnosing issues with existing electrical and automation equipment and implementing corrective actions Installing and maintaining instrumentation, ready for external calibration Participating in the commissioning and testing of new equipment Providing resources, training and coaching to develop the skills of other team members Implementing Risk Assessments Ensuring SOPs and all other site documentation are updated as required Providing back-up electrical support to the maintenance team and production leaders What you’ll bring to the role? 2 + years’ experience as a New Zealand registered electrician within an industrial environment Relevant NZ electrical trade certificate/qualification An existing high level of understanding and passion for learning more about PLC based control systems – (Allen Bradley/Siemens) diagnostics, installation, and programming (RS 5000) A good understanding of Automation networking Experience with high-speed packaging machinery e.g. continuous flow wrap machines, vertical form fill seal packaging machines, multi head weighers, date coders and bar code scanners Excellent communication and relationship building skills Accountability – you confidently make your decisions and can be counted on to do what you say you will!
