Position Summary The Specialist, Digital Manufacturing Systems (MES) is responsible for implementing, supporting, maintaining, and continuously improving Armstrong's Manufacturing Execution System (MES) across multiple manufacturing sites. The role combines application support, MES implementation, ERP-MES integration, project coordination, and business engagement to ensure stable manufacturing operations and successful rollout of Smart Factory initiatives. The engineer works closely with production, engineering, quality, OT engineers, ERP teams, and external MES vendors to deliver reliable manufacturing systems while ensuring standardization across Armstrong plants. The position supports Armstrong's Smart Factory roadmap by enabling seamless integration between ERP, MES, shopfloor equipment, IoT platforms, and enterprise data platforms. This role aligns with the SkillsFuture ICT framework where the engineer maintains application platforms, resolves operational issues, and improves service performance through structured support practices. Responsibilities 1. MES Implementation & Project Delivery Lead in regional MES rollout projects from requirement gathering through Go-Live. Coordinate project activities, milestones, testing and deployment. Support project planning, issue tracking and implementation schedules. Work with vendors and internal teams to ensure project deliverables are completed on time. Assist in user training, cutover activities and post Go-Live stabilization. Support project documentation and knowledge transfer. Act as technical advisor for MES implementation and designs. 2. MES Application Support & Operations Provide day-to-day operational support for MES applications. Monitor MES system health, production transactions and application performance. Support production, planning, engineering and quality users. Manage MES user setup, configuration and access. Ensure MES operational procedures remain updated. Support incident management and service requests. 3. ERP-MES Integration Lead integration between ERP, MES and shopfloor systems. Coordinate testing of interface changes and production transactions. Troubleshoot integration failures involving ERP, MES, PLC and middleware. Support operation validation of master data, routing, BOM and production order synchronization. Ensure manufacturing data accuracy across connected systems. Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement Investigate MES functional and technical issues. Perform root cause analysis and coordinate resolution with vendors. Track issues until closure with agreed timelines. Recommend system improvements based on operational feedback. Manage system enhancements and change requests. 4. Testing, Deployment & Change Management Lead SIT, UAT and production deployment activities. Prepare test scenarios and validate business processes. Coordinate user acceptance testing with business stakeholders. Maintain deployment documentation and release records. Support production transition and hypercare activities. 5. Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Planning, OT and ERP teams. Coordinate with MES vendors and implementation partners. Support business requirement gathering and solution discussions. Work closely with Enterprise Architect on solution decision making Communicate project progress, risks and issue status. Facilitate user adoption through training and operational support. 6. Documentation & Knowledge Management Maintain MES support documentation. Document configurations, interfaces and troubleshooting procedures. Update knowledge base and operational manuals. Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for IDT support teams. Ensure sustainable support capability across regional plants. Experience 3–5 years of experience supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ERP or manufacturing applications. Experience participating in MES implementation or enhancement projects. Experience supporting ERP-MES integration. Exposure to manufacturing operations and shopfloor processes. Experience working with cross-functional teams and external vendors. Experience in multi-site manufacturing environments is an advantage. Qualifications MES platform exposure (Critical Manufacturing, Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell, etc.) SQL/database fundamentals Basic networking or OT knowledge Diploma or Degree in: Information Technology / Computer Engineering / Mechatronics/Automation Engineering / Industrial Engineering or Related discipline Preferred Certifications: Cloud certification (Azure/AWS/GCP) / DevOps or CI/CD certification / API or integration platform certification / ITIL Foundation
