Substitute Teacher

About the Role Hong Kong Academy (HKA) welcomes applications from qualified candidates interested in joining our substitute teacher pool. We employ substitute teachers across our Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary divisions to cover short-term teacher absences. Candidates are welcome to specify their preference for Early Childhood, Primary School, or Secondary School within their application. Please note that substitute teachers must hold a Permanent Hong Kong ID card or a valid Hong Kong working visa to be eligible for employment. This position is compensated on an hourly rate basis. What We're Looking For A recognized teaching qualification or relevant degree in education (e.g., Bachelor of Education or a related field). Experience working with students in a classroom or tutoring environment, demonstrating effective teaching and communication skills. Strong subject knowledge in one or more curriculum areas relevant to the Academy's programs. Excellent classroom management abilities and the capacity to engage students across varying ages and learning needs. Flexibility and reliability to respond to last-minute scheduling requests. Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting student development and well-being. Professional conduct and a thorough understanding of safeguarding responsibilities in an educational setting. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and adapt to the Academy's established systems and procedures. Preferred: Prior experience as a substitute or supply teacher in a similar international or school setting. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
