This is a hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys diagnosing problems, repairing equipment and getting machinery working the way it should. Strong mechanical ability is at the heart of the role. You’ll work on pumps and associated equipment, carrying out servicing, fault finding, repairs, builds, rebuilds, testing and commissioning. We’re particularly interested in someone who can also bring electrical capability to the team . An EST qualification, electrical registration or strong practical electrical experience would be highly regarded. You’ll work closely with our experienced Tauranga workshop technician, who brings a strong diesel-mechanic background. We see this role as an opportunity to add another set of complementary technical skills to the workshop, creating a team capable of tackling a broad range of technical challenges. You’ll also work alongside our sales and hire team, so being someone who communicates well and enjoys being part of a close-knit team is important. As part of getting you up to speed, there may also be some short periods spent with our team at Prime’s head office and main workshop in Greymouth. This will give you the opportunity to get familiar with our products, systems and company procedures, and to spend time working alongside the wider Prime team. What You’ll Be Doing Your work will be varied and hands-on, including: Repairing, servicing and maintaining pumps and associated equipment Diagnosing faults and working through technical problems Carrying out mechanical repairs and maintenance Diagnosing electrical faults where appropriately qualified or authorised Completing pump builds, rebuilds and commissioning Testing equipment to ensure it is operating reliably and performing as expected Working with the wider Tauranga team on a variety of technical jobs Occasionally travelling to customer sites or other Prime branches for installations, servicing or breakdown support. This may involve some overnight travel from time to time. What We’re Looking For First and foremost, we’re looking for someone who is mechanically capable, practical and comfortable getting stuck into equipment . Ideally, you’ll bring: Strong mechanical repair and maintenance skills Experience in an industrial, automotive, diesel, plant, pumping or similar hands-on environment Good fault-finding and diagnostic ability A practical and methodical approach to solving problems Pride in your workmanship and doing the job properly The ability to work independently when required A positive, team-focused attitude Electrical capability is strongly preferred We’d particularly like to hear from you if you also have: An EST qualification , electrical registration or similar electrical credentials Practical electrical fault-finding experience Experience working with electrically driven machinery, motors, controls or associated equipment Pump experience is useful, but it isn’t essential. If you’re a strong mechanical technician with good electrical capability and the right attitude, we’ll support you to develop your knowledge of the specialised pumping equipment and systems we work with.
