Position Description The Interior Designer collaborates with design teams to develop creative and functional interior design solutions, from initial concept through to detailed documentation. This role involves space planning, material selection, FF&E specification, BIM/CAD modeling, and coordination with other disciplines to ensure projects meet client needs, design goals, and regulatory requirements. The Interior Designer is committed to design excellence, sustainability, and the effective use of technology, including AI tools. Responsibilities Project Startup and Planning Work with the Design Director and project team to understand project requirements, client briefs, and design goals Assist in researching client background and project context Collect briefing requirements and details of the project brief from the client Contribute to the development of project schedules and documentation lists Assist in preparing schedules and relevant information for the project based on the direction of the design director Review and summarize all statutory requirements in regards to local authority submissions Design and Documentation Develop interior design concepts, including space plans, elevations, sections, and details, using BIM software (e.g., Revit) Prepare design presentations using approved software (e.g., Google Slides, DTP ( Desktop Publishing) , Adobe Creative Suite) to communicate design ideas to clients and stakeholders Research and select materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), considering sustainability, performance, and budget Prepare Google Slide presentations Prepare specifications and quantities of materials for the works Collaborate with the BIM/technical team to ensure accurate model development and documentation Participate in internal design reviews and incorporate feedback Actively integrate sustainable design principles and practices into all project designs, considering material selection, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and environmental impact in alignment with relevant international standards and DWP's sustainability goals. Project Coordination and Management Coordinate with other disciplines (architecture, MEP, structural) to ensure integrated design solutions Assist in developing and tracking project budgets, in collaboration with senior designers and project managers Participate in project meetings and document key decisions and action items Assist in reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, and RFIs Communication and Collaboration Communicate effectively with the project team, clients, and consultants Present design ideas clearly and persuasively Provide project information and updates to update CRM Administration and Professional Development Attend internal team meetings and contribute to discussions on project progress and design issues Maintain accurate time records using the company's time tracking system Actively participate in continuing professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge Quality Management Adhere to the company's quality management system and design standards Proactively identify and address potential design and documentation issues Participate in quality control reviews of drawings and specifications Technology & AI Integration Explore and utilize approved AI tools (including LLMs and Generative AI) to Generate design options and variations Automate repetitive tasks (e.g., drafting, scheduling) Assist with research and information gathering Enhance communication and content creation Report to the Design Director for implementing AI on projects
