Vice President (Chief Actuary)

About the Role We are seeking an exceptional, business-minded Chief Actuary to lead our Actuarial Function. In this pivotal executive leadership role, you will hold direct responsibility for the financial soundness, capital adequacy, and overall solvency of the business. As the statutory Appointed Actuary, you will drive capital management, financial reporting, asset-liability matching, bonus policy, and commercial product pricing. Key Responsibilities 1. Statutory & Regulatory Leadership Perform all statutory duties of the Appointed Actuary in accordance with Insurance Authority (HKIA) requirements and relevant legal frameworks. Be the Key Person in the Actuary control function Ensure the insurer remains financially sound and fully capable of meeting all long-term obligations to policyholders. Maintain strict compliance with internal and external policies, statutory laws, and the governing Capital Management Policy. Hold authority for the sign-off and filing of required HKIA regulatory returns. 2. Capital, Solvency & Risk Management Oversee comprehensive solvency monitoring, capital assessments, and stress testing under the Hong Kong Risk-Based Capital (HKRBC) regime. Provide strategic advice to the Board and EXCO on potential financial vulnerabilities, early warning metrics, and mitigating action plans. Drive sound management of the Participating Fund. Ensure full adherence to risk management and pricing policies established by the Board. 3. Product Strategy & Commercial Growth Actively participate in product strategy, design, pricing, and execution to drive sustainable growth and competitive market positioning. Work closely with other business functions, regulator, re-insurers and other internal/external vendors to execute the business strategies. 4. Stakeholder Management Maintain transparent, constructive relationships with key external stakeholders, including the HKIA, reinsurers, auditors, and consultants. Lead the Actuarial Function, driving process automation, and operational efficiency. Provide strategic actuarial direction during annual business planning, long-term financial projections, and strategic asset-liability management (ALM). Required Qualifications University Degree holder. Professional actuarial qualifications. At minimum 15 years’ experience in insurance relevant industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or C-suite capacity. Deep expertise in HKRBC frameworks, IFRS 17, solvency modeling, asset-liability management (ALM), and participating fund management across legacy and new books of business. Proven track record of strategic executive presence, Board-level communication and commercial acumen.
