Position summary The Community Development Team Leader provides leadership, supervision and specialist guidance to the Community Development team, ensuring high-quality, culturally safe and community-led initiatives are implemented for new and emerging communities from refugee, asylum seeker and migrant backgrounds. The role oversees project planning and delivery, drives co-design and community capacity building, and ensures programs align with organisational priorities, human rights principles and community development frameworks as well as the Settlement Council of Australia, Settlement Outcomes Standards. This position holds responsibility for staff supervision, planning of work, performance oversight and practice development. Other key aspects of the role include the capacity to develop, enhance and maintain external service provider partnerships and contribute to strategic planning processes. In addition to this the position must ensure strong monitoring, evaluation and reporting systems are in place to ensure compliance with funding and practice requirements. This position will be contracted on a temporary full time basis until 17 September 2027. Duties Provide high-quality leadership to the Community Development team through reflective supervision and the development and implementation of a comprehensive operational plan. Oversee planning, delivery and evaluation of community development projects, ensuring community-led, culturally safe and evidence-informed practice. Build and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders including community leaders, service providers, local government and schools . Guide advocacy and community-led initiatives to ensure migrant and refugee voices influence local decision-making. Oversee data collection, reporting and evaluation to support continuous improvement and ensure funder requirements are met. Qualifications and Experience Extensive experience working with migrant and refugee communities, including settlement processes and systemic barriers. Demonstrated experience supervising staff, leading projects, and supporting team development. Expertise in co-design, community engagement and community-led program delivery. Strong communication, facilitation and relationship-building skills with diverse communities and stakeholders. Knowledge of family violence prevention frameworks and trauma-informed, culturally safe practice. Current driver licence.
