Farmchief Machinery Ltd is seeking an Engineering Service Technician to join our Waikato team . This is a hands-on role with a strong emphasis on fabrication, welding, and structural repairs, while also servicing and maintaining agricultural machinery for customers across the region. About the Role You'll be responsible for keeping agricultural machinery operating at its best through quality fabrication, repairs, servicing, and maintenance. Working predominantly in the workshop, you'll use your technical expertise to deliver practical solutions that keep our customers moving. Key responsibilities include: Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on agricultural machinery Fabricating, modifying, and rebuilding machinery components Performing structural welding and custom fabrication work Servicing and maintaining hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems Providing onsite service and technical support to customers Maintaining accurate service documentation Working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment Continuing to develop your skills as new machinery and technologies are introduced About You We're looking for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in producing high-quality results, and has strong fabrication and welding capability. Proven fabrication and welding experience (essential) Experience in an engineering, mechanical, automotive, or service technician role A trade qualification in engineering, fabrication, mechanical, or automotive (preferred but not essential) Strong skills in measuring, cutting, reading drawings, and fabricating components Experience working with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail A positive attitude with a strong work ethic A professional, customer-focused approach Honesty, reliability, and integrity A full, clean driver's licence What's in it for You? Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully.
