Position Overview: The Maintenance & Sustainability Manager, APAC, reporting to the Regional Store Design & Planning Director, APAC, will play a critical role in ensuring the long-term performance, quality, and sustainability of Cartier’s boutique network across the region. The role is responsible for driving maintenance excellence and sustainability performance, ensuring that boutique assets are maintained to the highest standards while continuously reducing environmental impact across their lifecycle. In addition to overseeing sustainability initiatives such as responsible sourcing, energy optimization, and waste reduction, the manager will establish robust maintenance frameworks and lifecycle strategies, enabling proactive asset management, cost efficiency, and operational reliability. A key dimension of the role will be to develop and implement circularity and reuse strategies, including the reclaiming, reconditioning, and reintegration of boutique elements, while also influencing future design approaches to better support reuse. The manager will work in close collaboration with local Store Design & Planning (SDP) teams and Project Managers, acting as a regional framework owner and subject matter expert, while local teams remain responsible for execution, logistics, and day-to-day maintenance operations. Key Responsibilities: 1. Maintenance Strategy & Asset Lifecycle Management Develop and implement a comprehensive regional maintenance strategy across all boutiques, ensuring consistency of standards while allowing for local adaptation Establish preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance frameworks to optimize asset performance, minimize downtime, and extend asset lifespan Define asset lifecycle management principles , including repair, replacement, and refurbishment decision criteria Develop and monitor maintenance KPIs, audit protocols, and reporting mechanisms across markets Support local SDP and Project Management teams in structuring effective maintenance plans, vendor strategies, and quality control processes Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and cost optimization through better maintenance planning and lifecycle management 2. Sustainability Strategy & Implementation: Develop and implement sustainability strategies across new boutique openings, renovations, and ongoing operations in line with Cartier’s global sustainability objectives. Collaborate with store design, planning, and operations teams to ensure that sustainability principles are embedded throughout design, material selection, and execution processes Lead initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of boutiques, including energy consumption, waste generation, and resource use optimization Track sustainability performance, including certifications where applicable (e.g. LEED), and ensure compliance with defined standards Stay abreast of evolving sustainability trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements, and integrate relevant innovations into regional practices 3. Reuse & Reconditioning Develop and implement a regional reuse strategy to maximize the reuse of boutique elements and materials Define and deploy reuse guidelines and decision frameworks , supporting markets in determining when to reuse, repair, or replace assets 4. Local Sourcing & Vendor Management: Consolidate and continuously enhance the regional local sourcing catalogue for materials, finishes, and maintenance components Expand and structure a regional vendor ecosystem , including: Sustainable material suppliers Maintenance service providers Repair and reconditioning specialists Promote the use of locally sourced materials and services where appropriate, contributing to reduced environmental impact, improved responsiveness, and cost efficiency 5. Energy & Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Monitoring: Oversee and coordinate energy monitoring and performance analysis across the boutique network, identifying opportunities for optimization Ensure consistent monitoring and compliance with Indoor Environmental Quality standards , including air quality, lighting, and overall environmental comfort Develop reporting frameworks to track environmental performance indicators across the region 6. Logistics & Warehousing Optimization: Oversee logistics management to ensure sustainable transportation practices are followed, avoiding the use of airfreight for heavy or bulky materials whenever possible to reduce carbon emissions. Optimize inventory / local warehouse management and material shipping processes, reducing the carbon footprint and improving supply chain efficiency. 7. Cost Management & Value optimization: Support the development and monitoring of maintenance and sustainability budgets across the region Identify and implement opportunities to optimize lifecycle costs , including maintenance efficiency, energy savings, and reuse strategies 8. Governance, Collaboration and Best Practice sharing: Act as a regional subject matter expert and framework owner for maintenance and sustainability topics Establish guidelines, standards, and tools to support local SDP and Project Management teams Clearly define collaboration model: Local teams retain responsibility for execution, logistics, and maintenance operations This role provides strategic direction, technical support, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement Lead regular regional forums, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to ensure alignment and capability building Facilitate the development and tracking of action plans and performance improvements across markets Qualifications: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Sustainability, Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related discipline. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in retail, luxury, or high-end commercial environments , with a strong combination of: Maintenance / facilities management and asset lifecycle management Exposure to sustainability practices and environmental performance Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing maintenance strategies, asset lifecycle frameworks, and vendor management systems across multiple markets Proven track record in managing complex, multi-country operations within the APAC region , with an understanding of local market practices, constraints, and regulatory environments Skills & Competencies: Strong expertise in maintenance planning, asset lifecycle management, and facilities operations , with the ability to translate strategy into practical frameworks for regional deployment Solid understanding of sustainability principles , including energy efficiency, material sourcing, and environmental impact reduction, with the ability to integrate these into maintenance and project strategies Ability to develop structured guidelines, standards, and governance frameworks , while adapting to diverse local market conditions Strategic mindset combined with hands-on pragmatism , capable of balancing luxury standards, operational constraints, sustainability ambitions, and cost efficiency
