Head of Procurement - Financial Service

Lead procurement transformation, strategic sourcing & supplier risk management in a global financial leader. Your new company Our client is a leading international organisation within the financial service. With a continued focus on procurement transformation, sustainability, risk governance and operational efficiency, they are now looking for a senior procurement leader to drive strategic sourcing, supplier management and enterprise-wide procurement best practices. Your new role Shape and deliver procurement plans that support business priorities, governance requirements and internal operating standards. Oversee end-to-end sourcing activities, supplier evaluation and commercial discussions to ensure quality, value and service reliability. Review existing spend, processes and supplier arrangements to identify savings opportunities and improve overall procurement effectiveness. Drive commercial improvement through demand management, sourcing discipline, operating efficiency and better use of procurement data and tools. Work closely with regional and group stakeholders to align sourcing approaches, leverage scale and support consistent procurement execution locally. Build long-term supplier partnerships and maintain robust supplier performance, commercial terms and service standards. Lead and develop the procurement team, encouraging accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. Support procurement transformation programmes across process design, systems adoption, governance and operating model enhancement. Strengthen supplier risk management practices across financial, operational, reputational, security, climate and market-related risks. Provide leadership during supply disruption, business continuity planning and periods of market or cost volatility. Incorporate sustainability and responsible sourcing considerations into procurement planning and supplier engagement. Maintain suitable tracking and reporting mechanisms to support internal governance, supplier visibility and sustainability-related reporting. What you'll need to succeed Minimum 15 years of procurement experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Bachelor's degree preferred; master's degree in supply chain or a related discipline is highly desirable. Professional qualifications such as MCIPS, CIPS or equivalent would be an advantage. Strong experience in procurement transformation, process optimisation and cost management; experience in insurance or financial services would be a plus. Proven track record in developing and executing category strategies across complex business environments. Demonstrated success in delivering category savings through strategic sourcing, demand management and policy compliance. Strong knowledge of supplier relationship management, vendor performance evaluation, risk management and procurement compliance. Good understanding of sustainability practices, responsible sourcing and ethical procurement, including IT procurement exposure where relevant. Proficiency in procurement systems and tools such as Coupa, SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, Process Unity or similar platforms, along with Microsoft Office Suite. Strategic, analytical and commercially minded, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions. Diplomatic, agile and resilient, with excellent interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder management skills. High ethical standards, strong integrity and the ability to lead effectively across all levels of the organisation.
