MUST Diesel Mechanic Location : Christchurch, Canterbury Rate : $45 per hour Type : Full-time | Permanent | 45h per week Time: NIGHT SHIFT, 3pm - 1:30am Monday - Thursday and 3pm - 8pm on Friday About the Role We are seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Mechanic and Hydraulic Fitter to join our busy workshop team in Christchurch. In this hands-on role, you will play a key part in keeping our fleet of vehicles and equipment safe, compliant, and operating at peak performance. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, have strong technical skills, and are committed to quality workmanship, we want to hear from you! key Responsibilities Ensure vehicles and associated equipment are maintained according to company policy and vendor-recommended programmes. Ensure vehicles are maintained in a roadworthy standard and meet all regulatory requirements. Conduct vehicle and unit servicing in accordance with the company Preventative Maintenance Programme. Update and maintain job processing within the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS). Requisition repair parts and associated consumables in conjunction with the Maintenance Inventory Controller. Uphold Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) responsibilities, including compliance with safe work practices and reporting hazards. Diesel Mechanic MUST have: Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Certificate in Automotive Engineering – Heavy, or equivalent) Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Experience with preventative maintenance programmes and CMMS systems (advantageous). Full New Zealand driver’s licence (Class 2 or higher preferred - Class 4 advantageous). Commitment to health, safety, and quality standards. Pass a Pre employment drug test Hydraulic Fitter MUST have: Knowledge of hydraulic systems diagnostics and maintenance, and/or automotive electrical/electronic fault diagnosis (preferred) Experience using CMMS systems A Class 4 Driver’s Licence (advantageous but not essential) Experience is more valuable then qualifications for this role but relevant qualifications would be advantageous.
