Kennedy Builders is looking for an experienced Carpenter / Builder to join our Central Otago team. We work across a variety of residential building, repair and maintenance projects throughout Central Otago and the Queenstown Lakes area. We are looking for someone with practical building experience who takes pride in their workmanship, works well as part of a team and can confidently contribute on site. This is a permanent, full-time position offering varied work and the opportunity to become a valued member of an established building team. About the role Your key responsibilities will include: Carrying out general carpentry and building work across residential construction, repair and maintenance projects. Completing building work safely, efficiently and to a high standard of workmanship. Reading and working from plans, specifications and job instructions. Assisting with the coordination and day-to-day running of building sites as required. Working alongside other builders, apprentices, subcontractors and suppliers. Identifying practical solutions to building and repair issues encountered on site. Planning and organising materials, tools and work activities. Maintaining safe, tidy and well-organised worksites. Following Kennedy Builders' health and safety procedures and New Zealand construction requirements. Communicating professionally with clients, colleagues, subcontractors and other parties on site. Supporting and sharing practical knowledge with less-experienced members of the team where appropriate. Travelling between project sites throughout Central Otago, Queenstown Lakes and surrounding areas as required. About you We're looking for someone who can demonstrate: Relevant practical experience in carpentry, building or residential construction. Sound practical building skills and a good understanding of construction methods. The ability to carry out building work to a good standard under appropriate site supervision. The ability to read and understand building plans and instructions. Good problem-solving skills and a practical approach to construction work. A strong commitment to health and safety. Reliability and a good work ethic. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. The ability to work independently when appropriate. A current driver's licence. A relevant building or construction qualification would be advantageous but is not essential where an applicant can demonstrate suitable relevant experience and practical skills. What we offer Permanent, full-time employment. Minimum 40 guaranteed hours per week. Pay of $30.00 – $45.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
