About the role You'll be involved in the fabrication of structural steel components for a range of commercial and industrial projects. This is a hands-on fabrication role working with structural and heavy steel, suited to someone who can confidently read drawings, measure and mark out accurately, fabricate components from start to finish, and produce quality welds without needing to be constantly supervised. Key responsibilities Fabricating beams, columns, frames and other structural steel components Reading and interpreting engineering and fabrication drawings Measuring, marking out, cutting, drilling and fitting steel MIG/FCAW and Stick welding Setting up and assembling fabricated components Grinding and preparing finished work Checking dimensions and maintaining a high standard of workmanship Working alongside experienced fabricators and workshop staff Following site and workshop health & safety requirements About you Previous structural steel fabrication experience Strong ability to read and work from engineering drawings Confident welding and fabrication skills Experience working with heavy steel Good measuring, marking out and fitting skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail Reliable transport and a good attitude toward work Relevant fabrication/welding qualification or trade certification preferred Site installation or structural steel erection experience would be an advantage
