ROLE OVERVIEW The ASEAN AI Innovation Centre is the overseas R&D hub of our AI Business Group, localizing mature AI products from China and building new AI products for Malaysia and broader ASEAN markets, with a focus on energy and education. We are looking for an AI Solution Delivery Engineer to own the last mile between a working product and a live customer environment. While the Center’s product, architecture, and design roles focus on building the right product, this role makes it run reliably at real customer sites: scoping and executing POCs and pilots, connecting customer data sources, deploying and configuring environments, training users, and turning field feedback into product improvements. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role: you personally scope POCs, connect customer data, deploy environments, run trainings, and troubleshoot issues on site — you do the work, not coordinate others to do it. We are hiring two delivery engineers (one lead, one secondary), and both do this work directly. We use AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, and similar) daily across the team, including for delivery work such as data mapping scripts, configuration automation, log analysis, and documentation. You should be comfortable making AI tools part of how you work. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • POC & Pilot Delivery: Work with the sales team and Product Manager to define POC scope, success criteria, data requirements, timeline, and responsibilities. Plan and execute POCs and pilots for AI+Energy products (solar O&M platforms, plant monitoring, power forecasting, energy management, AI agents, intelligent reporting) and AI+Education products, and drive them to clear, documented outcomes. • Data Access & System Integration: Assess customer data availability and quality, and implement data access via APIs, database connections, file exchange, or agreed export mechanisms from systems such as SCADA, EMS, inverter monitoring platforms, and enterprise IT systems. Build and maintain data mappings, validation checks, and integration documentation. • Deployment & Environment Management: Deploy and configure product environments (cloud or customer-hosted), manage environment setup, upgrades, and configuration baselines, and ensure deployments meet the security, data protection, and access-control requirements agreed with the customer. • Customer Enablement & Support: Prepare user documentation and training materials, deliver onboarding and training sessions, provide first-line technical support during POC and pilot phases, triage issues, and coordinate resolution with R&D. • Feedback to Product & R&D: Capture localization gaps, usability issues, data problems, and feature requests observed in the field. Feed them back to the Product Manager and engineering team as structured, prioritized input, and verify fixes in customer environments. • Delivery Playbook: Codify delivery experience into reusable checklists, runbooks, templates, and estimation baselines that make every next delivery faster. WHAT YOU MUST BRING • 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise software delivery, solution implementation, technical consulting, or system integration. • Practical technical skills: comfortable with SQL, REST APIs, log reading, basic scripting (Python or similar), and Linux / cloud environments. You will not build the product, but you must be able to connect, configure, and troubleshoot it. • Experience running customer-facing technical projects: scoping, planning, managing expectations, handling issues, and driving acceptance. • Ability to work with imperfect customer data and IT environments, and to find pragmatic paths forward rather than waiting for ideal conditions. • Practical use of AI tools in your own workflow, or strong willingness to adopt them for scripting, analysis, and documentation. • Clear communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical customer stakeholders. • Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites in Malaysia, with occasional travel elsewhere in ASEAN. WHAT YOU CAN LEARN HERE • How AI agent products, LLMs, and RAG systems behave in real enterprise environments, and what it takes to make them reliable for customers. • AI-assisted delivery workflows: using AI tools for data mapping, configuration automation, log analysis, and documentation. • Energy-domain knowledge: solar O&M operations, power forecasting, energy management, and how digital products create value in these workflows. • Multi-market delivery practices for Southeast Asia, including adapting China-origin products to ASEAN customer environments. LANGUAGE Proficiency in English is essential for customer communication, documentation, training, and internal collaboration. Proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin) is strongly preferred: many customer-side technical stakeholders and our China headquarters product teams communicate primarily in Mandarin, and much source product documentation is in Chinese. Malay is a plus for on-site work and local coordination. WHY JOIN US • Founding delivery owner: define how a brand-new AI R&D center delivers products to real customers, from the first POC onward. • Clear growth path: become the region’s go-to expert for AI product delivery; the lead position may grow toward delivery lead as the function scales. • Work at the sharp end of AI adoption: you will see exactly where AI products succeed or struggle in real energy and education environments. • AI-first team culture: every team member uses AI tools daily, including in delivery work. • 3-year strategic incubation: the Center focuses on building the right products and delivery capability, not short-term revenue pressure. TEAM CONTEXT You will be the delivery pillar of the Center, completing the loop from market to product to customer. In Year 1, the Center will be a compact team of 5–15 people, scaling to 25–30 by Year 2. Your day-to-day collaborators will include: • Sales / Business Development (Overseas Business Group): Joint POC scoping, customer expectation management, and pre-sales technical support at customer meetings. • AI-Native Product Manager: Alignment on POC success criteria, localization priorities, and structured field feedback into the product roadmap. • Senior Software Engineer (Architecture Track): Alignment on deployment architecture, integration patterns, environment standards, and escalation of technical issues. • AI-Native Product UI Engineer: Feedback on usability observations from real users and validation of localized UI in customer contexts. • China headquarters product and R&D teams: Coordination on source product capabilities, upgrade planning, and issue resolution.

Here's how to pick the right one and stand out in your application.

144.883Jobs

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
