Job Overview Seeking a skilled Senior UNIX/Linux & Middleware Engineer to maintain mission-critical AIX, Solaris, RedHat Linux, WebSphere, and IBM MQ systems within our banking environment. The role focuses on system reliability, SWIFT application support, proactive monitoring, and compliance across production and DR environments. Key Responsibilities System Administration Install, configure, and support AIX, Solaris, and RedHat Linux operating systems across enterprise infrastructure. Manage IBM WebSphere Application Server and IBM MQ environments, including upgrades and CA certificate deployments. Operate RedHat YUM servers for patch management and resolve end-of-support vulnerabilities. SWIFT Application Support Update FIN certificates, SAG LAU keys, SSL certificates, routing rules, BIC codes, and RMA configurations per application team requests. Support SNFIN migration, FIN Copy additions, job scheduling scripts, HSM device monitoring, FinPlus, and MicroGateway components. Handle SWIFT issues across UAT/OAT environments and value-added services. System Monitoring & Capacity Planning Configure SNMP for Netgain integration and monitor performance/resource utilization. Deliver monthly performance reports and annual capacity planning with growth forecasts. Patch & Upgrade Management Execute OS/middleware upgrades, patching, and legacy EOS hardware/software refreshes. Governance & Compliance Maintain audit-ready documentation and conduct semi-annual SAT/user account reviews. Disaster Recovery & Resilience Manage backup jobs, DR failover procedures, and annual DR drill activations. Incident, Project & Change Management Lead incident resolution, root cause analysis, and preventive actions. Coordinate infrastructure projects and vendor liaison for UNIX/middleware deployments. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT or related field. 5+ years as UNIX/Linux Administrator; certifications (IBM AIX, Oracle Solaris, RHCSA) highly preferred. Hands-on expertise: AIX, Solaris, RedHat Linux, WebSphere, IBM MQ, SWIFT support (FIN/RMA/HSM). Proven skills in backups/DR, SNMP monitoring, capacity planning, patching, and banking compliance. Strong troubleshooting, documentation, leadership, and cross-team collaboration. Banking/financial services experience preferred. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
