We are looking for Oracle PL/SQL Developer to work on the database core of a multinational general insurance platform 4+ Years of hands-on Oracle PL/SQL development (stored procedures, packages, triggers, bulk processing) 9am-6pm Hybrid work (3 days on-site in office at Ploenchit) Soilfish is a Bangkok-based software house delivering development and support services to leading insurers. We are looking for an Oracle PL/SQL Developer to work on the database core of a multinational general insurance platform — the PL/SQL engine behind quotation, policy issuance, and renewal, sitting underneath the client’s core insurance service. A key part of the role is mastering a long-lived legacy schema — including tables and columns whose names do not always reveal their purpose — and becoming the team’s go-to person for impact analysis. Strong Data Engineers with solid SQL who want to specialize in Oracle PL/SQL are also welcome to apply. Responsibilities: Develop and maintain Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures, packages, and functions powering quotation retrieval, policy issuance, and renewal processing. Learn and internalize the existing legacy database schema and PL/SQL codebase; trace dependencies and assess change impact where naming conventions are unclear. Enhance existing PL/SQL packages to support new API parameters and product features delivered by the application team. Write and optimize complex SQL across large insurance schemas (policies, interested parties, partners) for analysis, testing, and data verification. Perform SQL and PL/SQL performance tuning on high-volume transactional tables. Support batch processes and data conversion initiatives, including regulatory (OIC) data conversion. Work closely with Java/API developers to align stored procedure interfaces with the REST service layer. Prepare database deployment scripts and hand them over to the international operations team (communication in English). Walk through PL/SQL changes with BA/Developer reviewers before release, explaining scope and impact. Support SIT/UAT and production deployments; investigate and fix data and logic incidents on live systems. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, Business, or a related field. Minimum 4 years of hands-on Oracle PL/SQL development (stored procedures, packages, triggers, bulk processing). Strong SQL skills with experience navigating large relational schemas and writing multi-table investigative queries. Proven ability to reverse-engineer poorly documented legacy code and schemas, and to perform rigorous impact analysis before making changes. Experience with Oracle tooling: Oracle SQL Developer, Instant Client, explain plan / performance tuning. Able to read and write English (specifications and technical documentation are in English). Experience in insurance or banking core systems is strongly preferred. Background in Java integration or ETL/data engineering (e.g., data migration, data pipelines) is a plus — experienced Data Engineers willing to focus on PL/SQL are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with Git-based version control and JIRA workflows. Detail-oriented and rigorous with production data; strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Patient and systematic learner — willing to invest significant time understanding an existing legacy system before changing it. Able to complete the client’s onboarding process, including mandatory compliance training; hybrid work with onsite days in central Bangkok.
