About the role This is a hands-on, site-based role working closely with plant operators and site crews on a range of piling, drilling, retaining wall and foundation projects throughout the Waikato. Excavators fitted with specialist piling and drilling attachments will be the primary machinery used, although other piling and drilling plant may also be used from time to time. Key responsibilities Assisting plant operators with pile driving, auger drilling and foundation drilling operations Acting as the ground person/spotter during piling and drilling Guiding plant operators when positioning piles, augers, attachments and equipment Assisting with positioning, plumbing, aligning and bracing piles and retaining wall poles Assisting with drilling foundations and pile holes Assisting with concreting foundation piles and retaining wall poles Checking pile position, height, depth and alignment as required Assisting with the handling and changing of piling and drilling attachments where trained and authorised Maintaining safe working and plant exclusion zones Assisting with pre-start checks and general care and maintenance of equipment About you Experienced in piling, drilling, civil construction, earthworks or a similar heavy construction environment Experienced with pile driving and/or auger drilling Confident working as a ground person around excavators and other piling/drilling plant Safety conscious and aware of plant movements and exclusion zones Able to communicate clearly with plant operators Practical, physically fit and comfortable working outdoors Proactive, reliable and able to think ahead as part of a close-knit site team Willing to travel for work when required Able to work additional hours or occasional weekends when projects require it Holder of a current NZ driver's licence - preferred About us Waikato Post Ramming is a Waikato-based contractor specialising in piling, drilling, retaining walls and associated civil construction works.
