In this role you will be learning the ropes across our branch and dealing with our full product range while out on the road carrying out testing and inspections. You will also have a natural flair for Customer Service. What you will be doing: Assisting with inspections, testing, and basic servicing of lifting and height safety equipment under supervision until deemed competent Learning to identify defects, wear, and compliance issues in line with AS/NZS and relevant standards Supporting the preparation of certification and inspection reports using the company’s online systems Carrying out minor maintenance tasks as directed by senior technicians Accurately completing job sheets, checklists, and required documentation Accompaning experienced technicians on-site to develop practical skills and industry knowledge Begin building relationships with customers through professional communication and support Following company safety procedures and contribute to a strong safety culture Participating in ongoing training and development to progress toward a fully qualified technician role Working in accordance with ISO quality procedures and company standards What we are looking for: Interest in mechanical, lifting, or height safety equipment (experience is a bonus, not essential) Willingness to learn and develop technical skills on the job Positive attitude with a strong focus on safety Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team Reliable, punctual, and well-organised Basic computer skills and confidence using mobile/tablet-based systems Physically capable of working on-site, including at heights (training provided) Ability to follow instructions and take on feedback Full NZ driving licence Exposure to tools, mechanical work, or trade environments is an advantage Familiarity with AS/NZS standards or LEEA guidance is beneficial but not required Cookes have 11 branches throughout New Zealand and are part of the Bridon- Bekaert Ropes Group.
