About the Role NHOA Energy Australia is seeking an experienced Site Construction Manager to coordinate, plan, and supervise all construction and installation activities on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project sites. This hands-on leadership role requires a safety-focused professional who can manage complex multidisciplinary teams while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities Project Coordination & Execution Coordinate, plan, and supervise all construction and installation activities on BESS project sites, including civil, electrical and mechanical works Monitor project progress, ensuring work is completed within established timelines and budgets Review subcontractor documentation including management plans, schedule updates, notices and payment claims Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to jointly manage project changes and implement strategies to mitigate delays Manage mobilisation plans to site in conjunction with the Project Manager and Commissioning Manager Maintain responsibility for the site until project completion Quality & Safety Management Conduct daily inspections to monitor compliance with safety and quality standards Ensure all tasks are completed to required quality standards (as per Quality project plan) and safety procedures (as per HSE project plan) Lead by example and exercise "Stop Work Authority" when necessary, visibly demonstrating safety leadership during daily site activities Ensure compliance with site HSE procedures, legal and contractual requirements Verify all personnel complete required inductions, are competent in their roles, and follow site/project-specific HSE procedures, emergency plans, and permit-to-work systems Ensure task-based risk assessments are completed before work begins Monitor implementation of control measures and require all hazards, near misses, and incidents to be reported through the Donesafe platform for tracking, investigations, and monthly HSE reporting until closure Collaborate with the HSE Manager to ensure all health, safety, and environmental protocols are strictly followed Conduct safety inspections with the HSE Manager Site & Resource Management Manage site logistics, including material deliveries and inventories, equipment management and workforce deployment Inspect equipment and materials upon arrival at site Coordinate site preparation activities, including setup of temporary site facilities and storage Supervise subcontractors and other site staff to ensure work is completed according to specifications, on time, and within budget and using resources effectively Manage all NHOA personnel working on site (employees, temporary workers, seconded staff) Documentation & Reporting Ensure all technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports, is accurate and readily available for on-site use Guarantee correct and punctual drafting of reports as required by corporate procedures and contractual requirements Provide written daily progress reports to the Project Manager and Planner Track project progress regularly and provide updates on milestones, budget, schedule, and performance Maintain accountability for NCR (Non-Conformance Report) management and closure with the Quality Manager Keep track of changes and non-conformities, documenting any significant incidents or project changes Quality Control & Handover Support the Quality Manager during quality inspections of materials and equipment installations Lead and manage regular walk-downs of the construction site to identify completed works, incomplete tasks, or issues requiring attention Maintain and manage punch lists, identifying outstanding items or non-conformities, and ensure timely closure Work with relevant teams to resolve punch list items and ensure the site is ready for commissioning and later handover to the client once all items are closed out Risk Management & Problem Solving Continuously monitor project risks (e.g., schedule delays, safety issues, material malfunctions) and take corrective actions to mitigate them Provide day-to-day problem solving and deal with any issues that arise Anticipate potential site issues and proactively implement solutions Ensure close communication with the Project Manager for alignment on main and critical project objectives Required Qualifications Education Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; or electrical license. Professional certifications or additional training related to construction or project management (e.g., PMP, NEBOSH, PRINCE2) is highly desirable Experience Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the construction and management of complex EPC projects, including contract management and claims processes Specific experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), renewable energy, or power infrastructure projects is essential Proven track record of managing construction teams on-site for medium to large-scale electrical or energy projects Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, contractors, and subcontractors Solid understanding of the construction process, safety and quality standards, and commissioning of electrical systems Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and team management capabilities Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Proficiency in English is mandatory Experience in reporting project progress and potential issues clearly and concisely to project teams Strong decision-making skills to handle complex site situations Ability to anticipate potential site issues and proactively implement solutions Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Proficiency with project management software and reporting tools Personal Attributes Willingness to work on-site for project duration Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, schedules, and conditions Strong commitment to safety and quality standards Results-oriented with attention to detail Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines Why Join NHOA Energy Australia?
